Without going into detail, I have a filly here who I think is reacting to Winergy Low, I have always had good results with this. Has anyone else ever experienced this or is it just her?
I've experienced problems with my horses when they were on winergy. They're on equilibria 500 and some plain chaff now and are the picture of health, couldn't be happier. Maybe she's reacting to the alfalfa and or soya in it, I know my boy reacted to both and was a changed horse when I moved off it. Hope this helps.
Thank you, yes maybe that is it, she is a sensitive filly and doesn't need to be wound up by her diet. I have HiFi Mol. Free here so will try that in conjunction with HF nuts and see how she goes.
Also have Just Grass (or Readigrass, I buy whichever is in stock at the time) but sure that whichever it is doesn't have anything added, so that may be better than no chaff?
Tried mine on winergy( think it was the conditioning one) but it sent him nuts! Don't think he can cope with very alfalfa-y stuff as top spec top chop has a similar effect!
After 36 hours without Winergy she has changed beyond recognition, she came in quietly and has eaten her hay, supper and tucked into fresh hay at bedtime. I am convinced that the Winergy was the issue.
Glad you now know what the problem was. I would say that you need to make sure that she is still getting all the vits and mins needed to grow properly, especially over winter. I've had really good results with the Grand Meadows Grand Vite supplement (it's a powder) mixed with chaff, possibly the readigrass as it doesn't have anything added if the horse doesn't need any extra calories, and as I mentioned before I've had brilliant results with GWF Equilibria 500 and chaff. Hope this helps, feel free to PM me if you'd like.
I had a similar problem. When my warmblood was 4 he was on alfa a, top spec, and topline cubes. I won a feed trial on winergy low, and it sent him silly. Changed back and he was fine again!
Still fine this morning, and thanks for the suggestions! As, for the moment, I have treated this as an elimination diet I will go with the HF nuts for a few days more, then I plan to try her on the Pure Feeds Balancer, if that isn't 'helpful' it will be either Benevit or Surelimb. I have had a few that don't like Surelimb, and some that Suregrow doesn't suit either from a behavioural point of view, but no adverse reactions to Benevit.
I favour the Balancer initially as it will provide protein for her, so we shall see!
