Arena UK on tuesday, late times so time to bath and plait before setting off, longest Fin's been on the lorry but was good as gold.
He stod fine when we got there, we just had time to watch last 2 year old and first 3 year old, we did feel a bit out of our depth as they happened to be both Elite scores!!!
The heavens then opened - Managed to get Fin sorted excitement was getting better of him and we went to vet section, just got soaked on the way.

Fin was rather on his toes but just managed to stand long enough for vet to walk round him couple times see him walk and trot up and give us two 8.75

In to warm up area and Fin was very excited about being out!! i just walked him round and round and he did settle slightly......

Then our turn, he went eyes on stalks at banners and white fencing bless him but soon settled. He stod well for the evaluators, they asked about his Dam as it said breeding unknown and i explained we'd never got her papers but was believed to be by Highland King was ISH and evented to Intermediate.

Then for show - he walked off and bless did his super uber walk, then trotted round quite nicely - in hindsight i should have zizzed him up alot more but didn't want him exploding. The we loosed him and he was great considering we're done no real loose free work, prob could have zizzed him a bit more.
Then his jumping, he was a bit shell shocked first time and bit spooky, then he popped down lovely then up a bit and jumped lovely again and evaluators said they'd seen enough.

Then lovely lady evaluator came and chatted to me, a very high first premium she said he was lovely horse, real quality stamp, great with his knees over a fence so will be safe for me good paces for eventing and thanked me for presenting and preparing so well just commented on his conformation that he was slightly behind at knee and tied below hock but that wouldn't effect him and a big well done

I was kind of shell shocked, i wanted to bottle what she had said. I then got his sheet 8.7 he got 9 for athletiscm and 9 for his head neck body condition, lovely comments on his condition and jump etc i was just so proud.

Walking back to lorry i could hold back no longer and few tears rolled, loosing his mum still hurts and i was just so proud of Fin. It felt good that mum and i a couple of true amatures who have never bred or brought on a foal or been to any gradings/evaluations or even watched a futurity could acheive what we have.

So photos here http://www.greenlees-equine.com/portfolio37062.html no idea which to buy yet......

And to top it off Fin is currently at the top of the current rankings for the Elite show, i know there are plenty more evaluations to go and i am sure we won't stay in rankings but nice to be there for a while

My lovely sister in law videoed whole thing so hope to load that up in near future.

Thanks for reading and sorry for the waffle!!!

Thanks Hun, he was such a star considering what little we have done with him he really did perform and did us and his mum very proud, well done to you and troy he looks fab in his photos also a brilliant result think we chose a good sire

Thanks everyone, yes he does mean that bit more having lost his mum when he was 6 months old and especially with her being such an amazing horse that took me right up through pony club to Intermediate BE, she was very special. But we are very lucky to have Fin and so far he is turning into more than we could have dreamed for.
Just long reined and lunged him in the field and sat on him in the stable took it all in his stride even with a break from it with preparing for Futurity so hopefully might be on him over weekend

Thanks again
