Just wondering when everyone is planning to do a final clip of their horses this winter. I know the majority tend not to clip after the new year but wondered what the general consensus is on here.
I am planning on doing another clip either this week or next as she is starting to look a bit fluffy again, but I think that will then be it as her coat doesn't grow very quickly.
Thanks

i usually do mine beginning of january for a final clip

so just skimmed over to re-smarten..

but yea, generally start of jan, just after new year is my boys final ones xx

I going to trying clipping either this weekend or next and hopefully that will do him. I used to have to clip my coloured all year round, it was such a pain!

Tomorrow. 3rd & final clip on big mare and 1st ever clip on hairy baby pony just back in from field holiday. Vet booked for sedation - she threw herself on the floor when we turned the little hand held clippers on by her stable door................should be fun!

Clip until they don't need it any more.

We usually do ours right through until March/April. It's a complete old wives tale about clipping late affecting the summer coat and our horses prove that every year!

i think iv done my last clip...

had to start on mums (irish) in sept, and do him every 2 weeks(!) until end nov. my TB was first done mid/end sept and every 3 weeks until end nov too.

this week i have skimmed over heads, elbows and tummies with my coarse blades to get rid off the cat hairs, but that was a ten minute job that produced a handful of hair, so hardly clipping.

my Tb is already showing a summer coat on his neck and back, id like to think i could have him fully though in his sunday best by end feb, mums irish chap will probably be more like end march as he is a hairy scruffy sod genetically!!!!

Mine will be clipped just before starting serious gallop work in March in preperation for eventing- it doesnt seem to make any difference to the summer coat.

I did one of mine on Sunday and the other a week ago. These will hopefully be their last ones for this season as they dont go too hairy really. They have had 2 each now this season

I'm doing my final clip on Lotts in a couple of weeks. Toby grows out his so quickly he only has a bib anyway and I think I've re-done it about four times...he looks like a teddy bear now but he's not in that much work anymore so not him.
