Final Harvey update.....

Before he comes home!

Harvey is walking on his own with no pain killers. Due his final x-rays and bandage change tomorrow before he comes home on Thursday.

The 3 fractures are healing very well, better than anyone expected to be honest.

Vet reckons 8 months box rest is on the cards and he should make a full recovery and be able to compete cross country again. As he is only young he has plenty of years ahead of him to regain fitness and strength back in his bones.

So fingers crossed for all involved.

Really pleased he is doing well but I dont envy you the 8 months box rest. I hope youve got lots of entertainment lined up for him!!!

Oh I'm so happy for you, I was wondering all weekend as I didn't see any updates.

I assume your going to spend the next 8 months finding all sorts of stable toys for him.

That's great news! 8 months' box rest tho...

Don't know if it helps...when my old mare did a tendon, we fenced off a stable sized corner of the field for her so she could still be outside & see her friends. If she's in an actual stable, all she'll do is kick the door, neigh & box walk.

Harvey will have company all day/night as his 2 bestest friends are on alternate days in the field!
