First, we have BRAKES for jumping! new bit finally arrived (same as i tried the new mare in, Myler triple-barrel mullen combination), and she's controllable in it, so that's the first great thing. jumped her yesterday at home and she was zooming off a little bit after the fences, but thank god not on the way to them, and it improved a lot. also, my eye for a stride hasn't gone awol after all this time, which is a major miracle and a nice pleasant surprise.
also, found something online about an instructor 15 mins up the road with an indoor school (yippee! unheard of around here!) who was doing a clinic today, just been for first session to see if we're on the same wavelength, and we totally are. huge relief. the mare was really good, and i have already booked another session for tuesday. She's just what i need, a pair of patient, humorous, exacting eyes on the ground, for the gaps when my usual trainer isn't around! yay!
sorry for self indulgence, finally feel as if i'm getting somewhere after all this time!
hope everyone else had as good a weekend as me.

Excellent news!!! Well done you, I bet you feel like you're getting somewhere now, its such a relief when you 'click' with a trainer......not long til the event season kicks off so there'll be no stopping you now!

i know, it's unbelievable. she moved up from Essex a few months ago, and is classical and exactly what i was looking for.

at my last place, there was a girl in the village who was a total unknown but a brilliant sj trainer. i had a few sessions and thought "she REALLY knows what she's doing"... turned out she'd spent a few years with Paul Schockemohle. Just need to find an equally ace sj trainer near here and i'll be the happiest bunny around..

What a happy post Kerilli, so glad everything is coming together for you, its so exciting when you find a trainer that you know you can work with! Who is she?

she's called Claire, didn't get her surname, she moved here from Essex a few months ago. she's got her AI (not that that matters to me) and won a scholarship from ABRS for Classical Riding, which is what caught my eye. She's really nice and positive and exacting, and just what I need.

right, better start thinking about a few outings in a few weeks i think...
oh, the other great thing is that i renewed my membership with BE and they've carried on with my old membership number, which i've had since 1988, and i'm quite attached to! so, it's all good! pathetic, huh?

Hey that's good news! Decent trainers are good to find. Sounds like you might be on the circuit earlier than you thought then?

i hope so... got to try out the new brakes in public first! xc schooling at least once, maybe 2 or 3 times, and a few sj comps, and at least one dr comp, before i try BE. it's too expensive unless i've done some homework first!

Oh I'm just about to renew my BE membership too. I've got a new surname though, so I suppose I won't get the same membership number will I?

I've had mine since 1987!!!
