I only really started taking an interest in dressage with the aim of improving Blue's canter so his jumping would be better.

He's really improved in the past few months so on Saturday i stuck a jump in the arena (just a small x pole) and got out nice dressagey canter going and popped him over it, he kept the nice dressagey canter right up to the last 2 strides where he put his head up to look at the jump but then we landed straight back into the dressagey canter!

I was soooo pleased with him!

We've never managed that up until now!

Next challenge is to keep the nice bouncy dressagey canter all the way around a course?

Should i try him in dressage bit or go back to the stronger bit i used to jump him in?

I would keep him in the bit you have him in at the moment. You may find you need a little more bit but now his flatwork is more even & balanced you may find that you won't need much of a change in bit if any. Give it a go & see.
