For the first time this winter I've admitted defeat and not turned out my horse today. We've battled extreme cold, blizzards, 2 ft of snow and general disruption but the extreme frost finally beat us. I actually tried to turn out but after a great impression of Bambi (and that was in the frozen field) we retreated back to the stable. An hour later when presented with a headcollar, she backed off to the rear of the stable with a very doleful expression - "you've got to be kidding", springs to mind.

I suppose everyone is thinking the same thing but I'm seriously considering taking off her shoes next November and hanging up my spurs until March. Fed up and off for a glass of wine!

Ours have been out in all this without any problems but I've completely given up on even attempting to ride. Hibernation for horses and their humans sounds like a damned good idea to me!
