When I bought m 4yr old of a friend he was ridden in a flash and I just kind of continued it (very bad I know!). It got to the point where it was so loose it was serving no real purpose. Well on the weekend, I decided to try him without it and he was so much better, he was a lot more relaxed and softer. I have now decided that the best place for it is the bin!

However, as his noseband (now a cavesson) is also quite loose (can fit 3 fingers with room to spare) I have been noticing that as I have been riding it tends to go wonky/twists around a bit. I imagine it cant be very comfy for him, but I don't know what to do to stop it. I don't really want to make it any tighter as I don't know if that is necessary. Has anyone any ideas what to do?

Thats what I was thinking as if its just going to have the same effect on him when I took the flash off then I might as well give it a go. I'd say it probably is too loose to serve a purpose.

And the benefit of having less tack to clean is always a bonus as I am rubbish when it comes to cleaning tack :p
