I was feeling a bit left out of all the ranting threads we seemed to get a week or so ago, but I've found something now, even if it's a bit late!

I have a 'friend' on an art website, who's really getting on my nerves.
She openly admits that she is jealous of people who have horses, but she takes it far too far! I was quite shocked when I read the words:

"As for the toffs in my country who call themselves horse owners, yes, they usually do have a **** ton of money, but that suddenly makes them think they are better than everyone else. **** that, I have a gun (no joke). I have a hidden urge to kill most horse owners in the UK, and I'm not afraid to say it. Those I have come into contact with have for the main part, treated me like ****."

And then...

"Equestrianism has always been a difficult subject to come across, but I can make it clear how I feel; I love horses, horse sports, racing etc, but I do not trust horse people, I've been beaten down, pushed aside and generally yet mildly "abused" (for lack of better vocabulary at this moment) by them. Their attitude of holier-than-thou because they have a horse gets to me, I don't like it. I believe we are all equal and I will be the first to pull you off your horse, beat the **** out of you and walk your damn'd animal back to it's field and let it go eat.
EDIT; Sorry, I'm not sure I made it clear when I said this, but what I also meant to convey was; I do not like talking about RL horses, whether they be yours, one's I've ridden or in general, when it comes to humans and horses. I am JEALOUS, please don't fuel that.
"

I get she's jealous and honestly I do get a little jealous of people who actually own horses (As Neddy isn't mine yet) but my goodness!! This is just crazy! I think very few of us are rich, let along "Rich toffs!"
Very pointless thread, but none of my horsey friends are about and my parents don't 'get' it :P
ETA: I have tried to help her countless times to get involved with horses, but there's always an excuse

She's trying to be controversial but her own sense of inferiority is shouting out loud and clear. She needs therapy or maybe a few hours mucking out stables and poo picking.

Exactly. I've known her for a long time and when things get tough or she doesn't like something, she becomes 'loud' (as loud as you can be on the net) and aggressive.
I've offered to help her find something, but she then starts saying she doesn't want to be involved in the horse world with us "toffs". I can't win!

Ignore her.Im not rich, infact FAR from it.

I think I'm just going to remove her from my 'watch' list. I've known her for about 6 years and while she has her good points, it makes me cross when she acts like this. It's not our fault we own horses (or in my case, nearly own a horse) 99% of us have worked extremely hard and had to wait years!

Perhaps instead of trying to help her get involved with horses you could suggest some counselling/therapy sessions.

To say she sounds a little unhinged would be an understatement!

People think I'm rich because we have two horses, in fact one is out on permanent loan - but my retort is that I am poor because I have horses - when you start explaining how much horse ownership actually costs and what you go without to pay for it they usually shut up.

I agree with you. My horse is missing right now but I still have my section A and she keeps me busy and skint.lol

She'd really flip if I suggested she may be unhinged :P but I might be able to have a quiet talk on facebook chat and hope she'll listen to me.

Very true! I had no idea how much they cost until I actually did some research!

Tinseltoes: I heard about your missing horse :( How awful. I really really hope you find him! Best of luck and even though he's probably not around my area, I've looked at the picture and I've remembered his face :)

i think that's one very jealous person...Well one is going for one's tea now, i'm having pheasant & caviare ( egg & chips ) , then one will go back to my mansion ( 3 bed council house )... lol

Well I will send you good luck wishes for your FB chat, I won't say it sounds like you might need them..........

I have a friend that sounds similar to yours I would say it's character building to have a friend like her, but that's only really a polite way of saying she's an arse :-)

Thanks, I'll give it my best go! Even online I have trouble telling people things like that XD

Cripes that is bitterness! I used to have these kinds of thoughts (minus the violence and unhingedness, it was more 'that person is riding a horse and I want to cry') especially about people who have always had ponies and stuff bought for them by parents, but then I realised it's not their fault they were lucky or their parents decided they wanted the fork out the cash (not always because they had loads) so I just thought, if I really want one I will make it a priority, and did my best to find shares and things which is perfectly affordable! Not many of the people whose horses I shared have been rich either!

I wish I had got rid of the chip on my shoulder long ago and had a horse when I was working full time instead of going out drinking!

Very true!
People ask if I'm rich, because I'm going to get a horse. I reply
"Do you drink?" yes
"Do you smoke?" yes
"Do you go out every weekend?" yes
Do you buy stuff you don't need?" Yes

Well I don't. (Minus buying a few arty things and DVDs!)
If I didn't go to the yard I go to now, or know Ned, I would be looking for shares or helping friends ride theirs etc...horses are more accessible than people think!

People assume i have money as i have 2 horses. Both aqre on looan to me. And i dont have money because i have horses that seem to eat money!

I'm a rich toff (well, pretty much I am. Public school, trust fund etc) but I hope I don't deserve to be shot because of it?!

I'm nice really. And currently totally poor as trustees (wisely) won't give me any of my money! *sobs* I quite like work anyway, it's interesting :)

ETS: that sounds vile. It was meant to be funny. I'm not a spoilt brat I totally promise. I work really quite hard and never have any spare cash as it all goes on the beastlies.

Its ok JT I'll vouch for you being a nice person :)

As for the OP well if thats her opinion then she is never going to get in to the horse world, althugh admittedly lots of them are a little odd for want of a better world, she is just unhinged though and I think the horse world is a better place for her not being in it. It is hard to get in to the horse world with out any money but its hard to get in to any sport or hobby with out a little cash to get you started. Rides arnt that hard to come by if you can already ride but finding some thing to ride when you have no experiance what so ever will obviously be more difficult. I'm in no way rich I live on my student loan FGS!

Oh and I have a gun and I'm a fairly neat shot considering I havnt shot for about 3 years now  and my dad is a qualified air rifle instructor :p.

She used to work in a racing yard, but quit because she found it to be too much hard work, or something like that. So she can ride. She used to have her own pony too, which is technically more than I've had (I've had 4 on loan when I was a very small child) so she has no real right to complain!

You could say the same as me - private schools (Scotland), public school, then grammar as the local privates are bit rubbish - ponies as a kid, not exactly broke now despite being between jobs while I write up the sodding phd etc. Difference is, I am a total knob and probably do deserve a bullet.

If I were a horse, I'd definitely advocate shooting me :D

btw, dafthoss, I was asked if I would consider doing archery and air rifle training courses in the fullness of time. Aside from "hell yea" I was puzzled as to why they felt the need to ask me that
