Hey everyone!
Hope everyone has had a good christmas and new year. Havn't been on for a while as have been going through the stress of moving my horse. Some of you might remember I was having problems at my old yard. It was really hard keeping her there, an absolute nightmare. She was turned out 24/7 which for her is not great as she just came down with mud fever all the time and there were no stables or anything. People were rude and hurtful and some people even threw things at my horse and sprayed hose pipe at her head
People would try and do things behind my back like damage my tack, take my horse out without knowing, and there was no routine or anything.
So anyway it was a stressful time. She travelled well. But she is now in a new yard. The people there are so lovely. She has her own stable, and she seems to have settled in ok. She was a bit scared when she came out of the trailor! So walked her around a bit, before putting her in stable. Made it all cosy with hay nets etc and her ball to help her settle. I brought some hay from the old yard as its haylage at new yard. She seems to be eating both happily, but she wont touch the water. I've been putting some in her food and she's eating that so hopefully she willcome round to it in time. I remember at the old yard she wouldn't drink for ages so maybe its just her way.
I still think she thinks we're at a show or competition!! But just wanted to thank everyone on here for pursuading me to move. Its been really daunting but its so worth it. I'm also getting lots of helpful advice at new yard other than "oh she's a chestnut mare and needs a whack" which is great.
Is there anything else you can reccommend to help her settle? How long should I leave it before riding her?
Thanks everyone and sorry for long post
