Well, i have been with E&L insurance for years and have never had to claim anything, so have not had too much problems with them
although the cheeky swines kept dropping her value, they dropped it by half after the 1st yr!! i rang and told them to amend it, i had to pay more for this, grrr
anyway, have been meaning to change it forever to a proper insurer, got my renewal through the other day from E&L and against her value there appeared to be nothing for her value!!!!
suffice to say i rang them and complained and cancelled my policy
just took out one with petplan and feel really good now

pointless post i know, but felt the need to share and bore you with the details

they are flaming sneeky though that E&L, i mean i bet they hoped i would not notice the distinct lack of value against her, i mean come on, why would i insure her for nothing!!! grrr
oh well, all done with them now, once and for all

The only people I know who have been happy with this company are ones like you who have never made a claim.....

Petplan are the best in my opinion.
 
Regarding E&L: Just keep the pressure on them, and confirm EVERYTHING in writing (post, fax or e-mail). They will go quiet on you for a long time, so keep pestering them. They will also try to 'adjust' your claim, hammer at them.

We had a claim last summer and just got the final cheque a few weeks ago!

Come renewal time, guess what we'll be doing

I had my old horse with E and L and they paid up for an operation that cost about £2500. I had been told about so many horror stories about not paying. Although having said that I did fail to read the small print and had to pay 17 1/2 % of the claim because it had gone over a certain amount. I insured new horse with seib. Am horseless now though so dont have to worry about it.
 
We had insurance with E&L about 10 years ago and didnt give us a penny for any treatment of our lamanitic pony and in the end he was put down, we are with petplan and have been ever since.
 
I have just had conversation with them they are not going to pay I have to appeal.They renewed my policy oct and I had to fill in form saying what activities I used the horse for.I circled all the activites I wanted cover for for future months he hasnt been able to do anything at all because he had tendon and ligament injury etc.I thought this was for my cover in the next 12 months apparently it was for last year.As I circled xc which he has never done only one training day 2 years ago ,I actually wanted future cover for this they are refuting my claim.Im not giving up on this but will cancel as soon as I get some of my money back.How do they expect a horse who has been on some form of rest for 2 years to be able to do this activity.They wont accept anything on the phone all in writing again.
