Jump my fairly new horse:)
For those of you that don't know. He suffered ulcers just after I got him and leant how to buck!! And boy is he good at it!! However they are now pretty rare. Also he is a very green and powerful WB so can put in huge jumps :(. I had my instructor jump him a few times and on Monday an excellent young rider on the yard
Wednesday I popped a cross pole and despite him being a saint I bottled it :(
Decided today was the day. Started off to awful start as first I realised I had no hat on, argh I never ride without!! I had no hat but my air jacket on lol. Then when I got my hat and had a canter he tripped right down in his nose, legs well under hus chest Bless him he managed to get back up and carried on. I had to stop him to check he was ok, which he was :)
Then we had a few more canters and popped a cross a couple of times, then some straight bars and a related distance cross and straight
I'm so chuffed as I'm an 'older' rider suffering from rheumatoid and osteoporosis
He was such a good lad :)

Well done for bottling the nerves. Sounds like you and new horse are getting on well and will continue.

I've been there and it isn't easy to keep the horse straight and going over, when your minds screaming at you to stop and just duck out. My horse helped my confidence and got to the point that I wanted to duck out but once horse saw her line, nothing was taking her off of it.

You are an inspiration!! I read your posts as I know you have suffered a broken ankle and have had a replacement. I too have suffered a broken ankle but have not yet had a replacement. I have recently returned to riding after a gap and keep wondering if I will ever have the nerve to jump again (Mainly because of my ankle which hurts most of the time). I am an older rider too, but do not have the other problems you have mentioned, so you really do inspire me to get on with things.
As a matter of interest, how do you get on with your new ankle?

Thank you
Lam. So glad it gives you hope!! New ankle took a while. Don't get me wrong it was a huge improvement from the horrendous pain. But for months and months I still got a fair bit of pain if u did too much. Also there were certain boots that made it worse
Then almost set your clock to 12 months after the op and it is amazing. I can do anything on it apart from run and jump very well, it has no 'spring' I couldn't run or jump cos of my other problems anyway.
My first replacement failed though :(. Seems it had moved slightly and was out of place. I was gutted as was just back in the saddle when I found out. It seems I should have said it hurt more than just a bit lol
Are you waiting for a replacement??
