For those who missed my previous thread about my disappointing saddle experience, here it is:-
http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=445061&highlight=native+pony+saddle+company
I had booked a Barnsby fitter to come out about four weeks ago, but they didn't have any of the saddles I wanted to try available so I had to wait for them to make some. Well, it was well worth the wait!
I have never had such a thorough fitter! She check the saddle I had been using, which I knew wasn't a good fit, and gave my boy a full body check (told me she was trained to do TTEAM; http://www.ttouchtteam.com/tteam.html) and told me what problems my old saddle had caused and recommend that I have him looked at by a chiro. Feel so guilty now
I had chosen a Barnsby Junior Jumping saddle to try as I thought it was suit me 'cos I am a shortarse (most junior saddles only go up to 16.5 ins, this one is available in 17) and as it's made for ponies I thought it would suit my boy. The saddle fitted him and me a treat, I felt comfortable and secure in it but it didn't feel bulky (I don't like bulky saddles, think this has something to do with my short legs!). I rode on the flat, cantered uphill, over a little jump and up and down my own little derby bank, it never moved!
This is the saddle:- http://www.barnsby.com/products/saddles-barnsby-junior-jumping-saddle/default.asp
I did like the chestnut colour shown in the pic, but found it clashed a bit with the colour of my boy (he's quite a light, orangey bay) so went for the dark brown, which went perfectly with my Jeffries bridle and the leather girth I bought a few weeks ago
I paid with my card and was able to keep the saddle I tried, with the recommendation that I have it checked again in three months.
So, really pleased and would recommend Barnsby and this fitter, I was really impressed with how thorough and careful she was
