Other than being the random woman who tries her utmost to get free publicity for her website
i am also a fellow horse owner with my own equine related trial and tribulations so i thought it was about time i put a face (or at least a horse) to the name and introduced you to my little (or now not so little) nag Ellie...
I bought Ellie last June as (unknowingly) an utter flid. Bought her 'from the field' after the lady i bought her from up north had rescued her from some poorly knowledged 'foal collectors' who lost their grazing and were about to send her for a bullet to the head along with her brother
I was told she was nearly three and was sold to me as a hunter x TB (ideal as i didn't want a pure TB and wanted something to make a nice worker). She wasn't passported and via a long winded path we discovered she was chipped, and was indeed a full TB (yay
) and doesn't she know it- and having now spoek to her breeder she only turned 3 in April.... bonus
!
Didn't realise quite how feral she was... had never been in a stable and having stupidly chucked her in a field spent the first few weeks trying to catch her without it taking an hour each time and then sensibly moving her to her current home whcih is not ideal but she seems happy enough, it is a busy yard with lots going on and she is well settled.
She has come on leaps and bounds over the last few months since finding her feet in her herd and starting work- so far everything has been very easy with her and she is so intelligent i find it hard to believe. I am just about to back her so fingers crossed all goes well.. feeling a little bit scared as she's such a nice horse and it seems sooo long since i've backed any babies due to having the kids but i think she will be a fantastic little mare.
Her old owner has told me her brother is up for sale now... wish i had some more pennies
Now a bit about me... Ellie is my 14th horse or something ridiculous so i've been there and done it with most things over the last 18years. Qualified yard manager, trainer and freelance groom being somewhat hindered by two small children at present
have competed to national level in the showring (workers and ridden hunters mainly) plus lots of jumping in my younger years. Done quite a bit of judging at local and regional level and worked at some fairly decent yards. Now temporarily 'retired' until youngest is at pre-schoo and i get more time to play horseysl!!
