Hi guys, sorry for the delay with my report, i've been exhausted! Ok I apologise now for the ramble!

Ok well firstly my little man made me the proudest mummy ever
grin.gif
He's never been to such a busy and big comp and never had to stay over night either. He behaved beautifully and I was so proud of him! We got there fri afternoon and hopped on and rode straight away to stretch his legs from the 3 hr journey and give him a exercise. He was so well behaved even though it was hectic and there was so much going on. The other horse we came with had been a few times before and was a nightmare...we ended up having to give her a lead into the arena and her horse followed Louis around everywhere, you'd have thought Louis had been there a million times before
grin.gif
The warm up was mental...horses everywhere and at one point one of the GP riders came off their horse which proceeded to gallop straight for Louis and litterally brushed us and galloped off out the arena...again my little man was a star...no more than a flinch
grin.gif

Went and settled Louis in to the stable, he settled in immediately. However we started at that point having a problem, his hyperallergic/asthma condition that hasn't flared up in a year suddenly started coming on. He was coughing and bringing up lots of green gunk. He settled down eventually with the coughing but was clearing his throat and weezing a bit.

Got up 5.30am to do the arena walk

Again he was a star, lots of spooking horses all over the place and he behaved beautifully, however we were having lots of coughing again
frown.gif
I wasn't on until 11.48 so gave him a break and stretched his legs outdoors to try and clear his cough out a bit and got on at 11. He warmed up like a star but he was coughing so much by this point...poor little man
frown.gif
Anyway went in for our test and he was such a super little man...he tried his socks off but unfortunately coughed and weezed his way through it. He went really well but obviously the constant throat clearing made it a little difficult to be totally balanced. We got 62.59% and came just out the top ten
frown.gif
I am thrilled to bits with my little man as he tried so hard and I know he could have done so much better without the allergy flaring up. It's a shame it happened but hey-ho. I couldn't have asked for much more though as he gave me all he could and got lovely comments on his sheet. His splits were hugely different with one judge giving him nearly 10 points more
ooo.gif
It was the judge at C who gave us the lower mark as that was where Louis started coughing quite badly
frown.gif

Anyway I will stop with the rambling now! Sorry to let you all down and not come back with a placing as we hoped...
frown.gif
Unfortunately the little man is still weezing and coughing and has some lumps come up on his back so he's having a rest this wk until it goes down again.

Aww poor Louis, what a shame. Still sounds like you did very well and you should be so pleased with yourselves. That's a good score too. Well done!
grin.gif

Edited to say you haven't let us down at all, hey you qualified to get there in the 1st place and you came back with good marks, I think you did excellently!

Aww poor guy. He obviously tried his heart out and well done you for not being bitter about it and still being proud of how well he did considering! Hope he feels better soon xxx

Thanks guys, I was a little upset that it happened but onwards and upwards! We're part qualified for the elementary regionals now so I hope to be back next year to do the elementary class
smile.gif
I'll be prepared next year if we get there with his nose net and respiratory supplements! That was the last novice test we're going to do so it's a shame it all went a bit pear shaped but at least it wasn't that he miss-behaved or went wrong...he behaved so well and did a lovely test through all the wheezing!

My poorly little man is having a rest and some TLC and then it's onwards to next comp
grin.gif
We hope to return from the next comp with better results
grin.gif

I am waiting for them to come online so will post them as soon as they're up. My hubby videod me warming up and doing test so i'll load that up later.

like i said, well done hun, he tried really hard for you bless him! Youve just got to get to the Nationals via the elementary regional route now! Which im sure you will xx

Well done. It's a shame about the allergy, but at least it is something he should get over quickly. Sounds like he tried really hard for you and you did the best you could in the circumstances. I would be really pleased.

Thanks DD and P_G, I am so pleased with him, just frustrating when it all goes a bit pear shaped
frown.gif
Like you say P_G I am well and trully determined to be back next year
smile.gif

Well done, poor boy, and I know it must have been very frustrating for you both... never mind next Regionals then Nationals!!!! and you have not let anyone down at all... I kept on thinking that but hey you got to the Nationals not be sniffed at like many people have told me so WELL DONE YOU!!

Thanks so much. I do feel a lot better already, it's just so frustrating when you know how much your horse is capable of. Well done to you too, you did fantastically too to be placed, you must be very happy. Next year we'll both be back and both in ribbons
smile.gif
Lets both pat ourselves on our backs
smile.gif

Well done, and as many others have said........... you've let absolutely NOONE down you chump!

It's hard when you've hopes and dreams of a place to see them go up in smoke especially when you know that for whatever reason, you and your horse could have performed much better. However, it sounds like you both coped really well with the occassion and it was such a shame that Louis' allergy should start then.

Never mind, you WILL have your day and plenty of them too, I'm sure! So chin up and once things have cleared up here's to finishing your qualification for the Elementaries.
