Hi everyone, I just joined here today in the hope that some of you might be able to help me.

I have been riding since I was 6 years old, (I'm almost 21 now), but unfortunately for the last 3 years I have been really busy with work and have not been able to ride.
The last time I rode, I had a pony on loan and had to give her back to her owner when I found I didn't have the time.

However, I am going to a yard next thursday to have a ride on a few different horses to see which one suits me, and am going to be having riding lessons on the same one for a few weeks to see if I would like to buy it!
So finally I am going to own a horse! :D
As you can all imagine, I'm very excited, and have been shopping already for things that I need.

I just wondered if anyone had any useful advice on things to look out for, things to ask before buying, things to maybe avoid?
And also if anyone is selling any supplies, tack, rugs, anything that I might need. Then I may be interested in a couple of weeks time so please get in touch!

Thankyou in advance!

Paige.

Hi Paige!

Exciting times indeed :) Do you have a knowledgeable friend you can take with you? There are so many things to look out for that it's very useful to have an extra pair of eyes.

eBay, Preloved and HorseGossip are all good sites for getting hold of good quality second hand gear. Or there are also equestrian car boot sales and table-top sales you can go to.

Good luck & keep us posted!

P.S.

I will also be in need of DIY Livery, near/ in/ around Leicestershire, so please get in touch if you know of anywhere! Thanks.

Thanks!

I do have somebody who can come with me, but finding a time when we are both free is proving more difficult than anything else.

I live in Leicester, do you know of anywhere that does equestrian car boots?

I'll definitely keep you posted. I'll take pics of each horse that I ride on Thursday and post them on here to show my options!

I feel like I might not get to sleep, I'm that excited!

Paige.

get it vetted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

best of luck. If you can take a knowledgeable friend along that would also be excellent....remember you can pick and choose so dont rush into buying the 1st one you see. Buying horses is awful- one of the scariest things ever! ..but once its done and he/she is yours youll never look back!
