Proud moment.

Here is a not so great pic of me now I finally have the courage to ride out on sons Newfie that we have just backed. Pony need to get fit and loose a few pounds ;) today is day 1.

Had chiro out to check his back and the saddle and to devise a fittening programme as I was scared of damaging him. So we are hacking - walking only for 20 mins 3 times a week building by 10 mins a week and if he struggles with hills I hop off.

Excuse his face he was trying to eat hedge !!

He is a Forest bred pony from Rushmoor lines . Dad - Portmore Tempest. Mum - Rushmoor Silver Stream which means nothing to me but others may have related stock which would be lovely to see pics :D

He's lovely, very neat. Nice!!!

You dont have to apologise for pony face pulling. You just have to get used to the fact that most of your photos will have them making some goggle at the camera or other :-))))

I ride a 16.1 TB ( when she is well ) my 15.1 big striding Arab x then straigh off her this morning onto 13.2 (ish) pony so he felt tiny ;)

But I had major wobbles about sitting on him so it's reassuring to be told I can and really won't hurt him!! I took some convincing but am getting braver :D

He is such a sweetie and so easy to live with. He is only 5 this year and had such a sensible head on his shoulders it is lovely. Looking forwards to the summer .

Awwww both my boys are forest bred to. :D Proper forest ponies :D
Don't think mine are related to yours though. How big is yours?
This is Herbie forest fox (aka the horrid one ;) :p ) He's a short arse pony at only 12.2hh-13hh

And this is Tiptoe Merryn. He's a bigger pony at 14.1hh. He's by Burley Branston

Oh Laura they are lovely. Herbie is extremely pretty :D

Willow is my first experience of a Newfie I was raised on hot headed Welsh ponies and I find Willow such a sane calm boy he is a delight. Oliver my 3rd born son adores him which is lovely.

This was Willow as a 2 year old when we first bought him. Gosh don't they grow :D

Forgot to answer height q - We guestimate 13.2 based on tape measure and as that was his parents height . Will he have finished growing - He is 5 this summer?

Thankyou I think they are lovely but then i'm prob biast ;) :p :D
I also had a welshie first. I love welsh ponies but when my mare fell ill I knew I needed something diffrent so there would be no chance of comprisen when she was gone :( That's when I got Herbie. A year later I also aquired Merryn. Merryn is a lovely chap. Realy kind and gentle :D. Herbs is very diffrent but this is mainly due to his past. :(

Merryns parents are both small but he grew to be quite big  But I think at 5 your lad is probably done growing in hight. :) He's a handsom little chap. I hope you have lots of fun with him.

Also agree with others you look fine on him. This is me squishing Herbie ;) :D

He carries me fine. We've done dressage, showjumping and even been hunting.

All your nf are stunning! You are in no way squishing! They are made to carry adults :) portmore tempest is gorgeous btw, very stocky lad- your boy should fill out some more but no massive changes, though my rising 5 nf is still bum-high!

I had wondered what parent looked like. Good to know Dad a useful sort. I shall Google him and see if I can see pics.

Thank you for nice words. We like him but I do wear rose tinted spectacles where anything equine is concerned :D

He looks similar to my boy in build and colour. He looks bum high in that first pic so you might get another half inch? My boy is nearly 4 so a bit younger than yours. They are a lovely breed.

Thats not proper squishing   :D Me jumping an 11.2 welshie is pony squishing :p. Honsetly you look fine on him and hes a lovely sort, I used to ride a fab newfie when I was younger we used to get up to all sorts of mad things together I have fond memories of going over stubble fields bareback.

I hope your boys end up having as much fun as we did, never met a nasty newfie they have all been kind with a little sense of humor added at times to keep you on your toes.

Absolutely agree with Dafthoss, my 3 haven't a bad bone in their body, but it doesn't make them boring in any way- they have massive personalities! :D

Oh yes he has a sense of humour - shown today by pushing his way up the bank into the hedge to peer through the kitchen window as I was late with his tea!!!!

Oh and lifting the mares rugs and biting their bottoms and ripping off tail flaps!!

This list of crimes goes on :D

He can be a little sod but also very very sweet and cuddly - I am smitten and so are the boys !
