OK am looking for a horse aroung 7yrs to do a bit of dressage with (I ride at medium). Around 16hh any colour, don't mind a mare or a gelding, not fussed on the breed. I would look at something younger too but really want something I can take out at elementary now.

Now the bad news, I have £6k max!
 
Tricky one. Keep checking BD website but not going to be easy to find a medium horse at that budget. What about a horse with potential? That would seem more likely.
 
Yes I think you are probably right. The trouble is my medium horse is off through injury, I don't honestly think he will come back so looks like I may have a field ornament. I brought him on from a 3yo and got him this far but it looks as though I may have to start from scratch again!
 
If i were you i would look at horses established at novice as some people are happy to reach nov and wont move up any higher but their horses with a strong rider have much more capability - it may be worth trying a few as the lateral work isnt that difficult at medium so easily bought out of the right horse.
Equally you also see medium horses that look more suited to novice! I would keep the doors alot more open with that budget in mind.
