right...after the 'dreading going back to yard debacle' need you lovely people to find/suggest me a yard...i live in rochdale but guess heywood/edenfield and bury are do-able.

requirements are:

- DIY livery

- decent arena- can be windswept or whatever but need somewhere to bring baby on so not one that freezes/floods every two minutes. also need to be able to access arena (i know some yards have great arena but can never get in it)

- trailer parking- don't mind paying but have no drive so trailer has to stay at yard

- turnout (of any variety- i don't even care if its in a sand paddock- just somewhere to play out in at least every other day)

- decent tackroom/storage space (i have a very small house!!)

- preferably not a riding school (please don't jump on me...just not my scene ) i also don't really like hoardes of kids (yes i'm a teacher ) but don't mind under 18s if they are well behaved....

- be able to have own trainer, vet and farrier and be able to come and go as i want (no silly opening times)

- nice, friendly people. i compete but don't expect everyone to/ look down on those who don't

i really don't think thats too unreasonable?!! any suggestions greatfully received!

also just a thought...what websites are good for looking on for adverts for livery yards? i know about new rider...any others?

you might try asking at local shows, dressage events etc. Also feed merchants generally know of places in my experience.
Good Luck.

Read your other post, and agree rochdale/heywood is black hole for livery. I know quite a few yards, but none i would recommend. So will be watching this thread with interest. Good luck! Out of interest where are u at the moment? PM if prefer.

hmm..croft end looks good but seems to be full livery only and i want DIY....goddamn! the other one i have heard of but never been to personally so might be worth a nosey!

i suppose worth a call!! i think the other nice sounding one has no hacking...i'm not massively fussed about hacking but if its where i think it is its based on a nat speed limit road.... i think i might move my house...seems like it will be easier!!

Croft end do working livery, but there is very little turnout. Plus it's a busy riding school. Lovely place (my mare is on permanent loan there) and great hacking, but probably not what you are after from what you've said

ha ha, definitely not then....don't think just backed 4 year old or loopy ex racer would be ideally suited to working livery!!

Harwood Farm in Birtle is now running a livery yard. AFAIK they have year round turnout, an outdoor school, indoor stables & do Full/part & DIY livery.

Why don't you give rochdale riding club a ring or email, as they might know somewhere?

That Lane Head place looks nice from the website. I'd call them if it was me.
