I've got some old tack laying about getting in the way, it doesn't fit my current horse (too small) and I'm not likely to get a horse smaller than him in the future. I'm not sure what to do with it, I thought about e-bay but it's not worth that much and the saddle isn't that post-able. I just don't feel right about throwing it away when it's perfectly serviceable. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could find a home for it?

When I retired my old girl I took her tack, another saddle and other bits and pieces I had to a local charity that has a riding stables in the middle of Newcastle, who enable inner city kids to ride and learn to look after horses. They were very greatful for the donation. I would definately see if there are any horse charities that are local, I'm sure they would bite your hand off, especially as there are so may pressures on them at the moment.

If you haven't got any you can get to, I'm sure your local riding school could make use of the saddle.

A equine charity is a good idea. I used to give away the really old knackered saddles lying around in my workshop that were too dangerous to ride on to old pubs to hang on their walls in the pub as decoration (after I had cut off the girth staps and webbing so they couldn't be sold on and used)
