I know this might sound really, really silly.... but I'm itching to work with something 'difficult'... maybe even 'impossible' again....

Dan's now getting to the stage where he's sane and yes, still a sensitive little soul and good fun, but 'safe' isn't always my thing. In a sense, I've wanted something that I can just progress on for ages... but I never thought I'd miss the craziness this much!?

I do love the ones that are hell bent on putting me on the floor, the ones everyone else stays well away from. Maybe it's just that at the minute, I'm feeling pretty down again, and just.... useless. I want to prove (mostly to myself!) that I'm good at something. And (in my eyes) I'm pretty good at working with these horses, and youngsters too. I'm determined & calm, and I like the challenge. I'm good for taking a few falls.
Problem? I don't think we can afford/my dad will let me have a 2nd horse :( Ride them? Sure, can ride and look after as many as I like! But not own two :( I can't sell Dan.

I am though literally itching for the challenge again. Something to motivate me. There are at least 3 horses on the yard I'm on right now for sale because their owners can't/wont ride them and such because they have certain issues which wouldn't phase me in the slightest. But I don't know how to approach them about offering to ride such horses that they think would be 'dangerous'

Am I crazy? Maybe :D I'd go work on another dealers yard in a flash, but I'm not overly into the quick fix thing... although I admit it's still a better riding opportunity than most I'd get :o

Do I have any other options? Today I was even working out if I could keep another horse myself and manage to pay off buying it fairly quickly  Not sensible. Hmm.

I will shush now and go and think quietly! :p

ohhh I so wish you lived near me, I have a difficult mare that could benefit from someone like you, you could ride her till the cows came home and wouldn't cost your dad a penny ;) bummer your too far away :mad:

I'd bite your arm off if you offered to ride mine! ask the liveries at your yard- not everyone is that brave and i know that feeling of "oh god i have to ride him today" only too well.
make sure you have some sort of insurance though. Also be careful!

Send them here!? :p I'd have them all...! Maybe I will pluck up the courage to ask them tomorrow, I'm just not very good at talking to people face to face :o I do need something to do with myself through the summer though..... :D

Why not advertise to take difficult horses for schooling etc? That way, the owner pays for the livery and you get to make money for the work you are doing.

I think the main issue is that I'm not 100% certain that I could necessarily work wonders - I'm still far from being 'experienced' at turning horses around - although 90% of the horses (or more?!) I've ever ridden have been young or difficult, or both! and I've never had much trouble or been put off by them. It's still a learning curve for me in a sense, although I'm very sensible and have quite a good base knowledge to go off? Maybe I just don't believe that we stop learning though! I just wouldn't want to take too many risks!?

You could probably get a free ex-racer if you asked around the trainers in your area. you could them work with it over summer and sell it on at the end of summer - you're unlikely to make much, if any profit out of it, but you could at least break even....

OP i am very uch like you i love the challenge of sorting out the issues, have to say once sorted and the horse is happy to be hacking and popping a few fences, i do start to lose interest as i like the xcitement of ait all.
Luckily i am at the yard all day to have the time to work withe the horses, have a couple to look at soon both have confidence issues and rear because of it.
hope you find something, shame you are not closer you would of had fun with a few i have in at the moment lol

Glad I'm not the only one :D It is nice to finally have something I feel I can just aim higher with... but not entirely the same?! Because I can't compete anyway, I know I don't push myself doing that!
does sound interesting - good luck! :)
