A question for those of you who've either got/had horses on loan, or have put yours out on loan.....what are the best ways to get a horse to loan (or share ATM)?

Found a share for mine without needing to advertise, and hopefully they will be taking him on full loan eventually.

Have been on all the usual sites, horsemart, horsequest, etc. I'm hoping that horses will start to come up towards the end of the summer as people go away to university?

It might just be a case of there being nothing in my area!

All the ads I've seen say "must stay on current yard"...I originally thought the same about my boy but am coming round to the idea of moving him quite quickly actually.

And if anyone sees anything for loan in Hampshire/Berkshire area, please yell in my direction!

Just hoping this isn't going to be like when I bought my horse, 5 months of looking at absolute crap before I found him!

(And on that note...why am I seeing ads for horses that do flatwork but either have only jumped a X pole or "need work on jumping" for 5K???)

All ours came by word of mouth!
Fat Orange One was recommended to us by the farrier & once we had him, I asked his owners about another larger one, which is how we came by the infamous Cob Blob!
The Baggage was offered to MD by her owner, as she liked the way MD rides & knows we treat our charges very well!
Sorry CC, not very helpful I know but maybe your farrier would be a good start?

i have found one now,hes coming at the weekend
but it took me months to find one
try www.nfed.co.uk there are loads on there in and around southampton area
hope it helps
word of mouth is ok and ferrier ect but yes you have to be patient i thought id never find one but all of a sudden il have him this time next week, yey i cant wait !!!

Have a look on the post 'loan ponies' in this lounge,i have posted about my mare on there but not sure if she's what your after.I was also looking to loan but there is nothing half decent out there and also 15 ish hands is the most sought after - what i'm looking for isn't out there so now i'm buying what i want instead. The only reason my mare is for loan is because i want to compete regularly and hunt and she can still do most things but can't jump frequently and no schooling for her.Still can hack,do sp.rides though,is a fun genuine ride.Take a look.

well i have just put my horse up for loan share. put him on horse exchange and horse mart, and only had two calls since friday, neither any good.

I am having the same probs too, been looking for a while, I have 4 on loan, but 1 of them is going back to owner, so looking for another one, to bring to my yard in Devon. any ideas, I have looked on all the sites daily, applied for a few, but they are already gone. gggrrr, so frustrating, I would even be willing to loan with vtb, but I am a bit worried about buying a horse, withput having him for at least a month, to make sure we bond. not looking for competition horse, just happy hacker with a bit of schooling chucked in.
