I've have been in search for a strong, stable and light mobile mounting block for months now. I've a big excitable horse which, at an event, you need to get on and go as soon as she is tacked up. The plastic crates are not stable enough - I've tried library steps (potentially lethal) so guess there are a lot of people in the same boat. However, now I think I've solved it. I found something called a 'hop up platform' in a DIY outlet. Apparently it is for decorating but it makes a fab mounting block. Folds away into nothing, very very light (almost a one finger job) but amazingly stable and strong when erect. It's so good, we are now using it as a semi permenant mounting block in my yard at Pirbright. As anyone any better suggestions?

That would be an expensive mounting block. I just use a portable grooming box that is designed as a step as well. Mind you my horse isn't very big.

Me too!!

Well actually, my horse is such a pain I normally bring her down the ramp and get on just as her feet touch the grass, using the ramp to give me some height advantage.

Now I feel better - mine cost under £25 and is exactly the same as the one in the Amazon ad! Think I got it from Wickes about 5 months ago.

yeah, front bumper of my landie it has checker plate on it

it goes to every show and prefect height

Robinsons do a great two-steps one. Got mine in raspberry so the other liveries know my pink obsession is still alive and well! About £20 I think...very stable and light. Everyone uses it!
