I have to replace my jumping hat after falling on it. I'd like to get one of those new fancy styled ones like GPA or similar but its impossible to find a local stockist to try much range on in person!

I have a Champion Ventair hat just now which visually suits my head shape well but as I have a small round head I need a hat which doesn't make it look like a squashed potato! Harry Hall are nice hats but don't suit me at all.

Any suggestions?

If you like Champion hats, the new Air Tech one looks less bulky and comes in a few different colours, if you fancy something a bit flashier? Will watch with interest - I need a new hat soon!

I would pick a large retailer with a shop, qualified hat fitters and a website that stocks the ones you're interested in, and phone them up for advice on similar fit to the hat you have if you can't get to a good one. If you're happy to travel a few miles then Robinsons in Basingstoke has quite a selection.

Have you tried the new Whitaker Victory Helmets, They have adjustable fastenings for head size, so to some extent eliminates the problem of trying one on to see if it fits, which is an issue as most online sellers wont accept returns on riding hats if they don't fit as the can no longer guaruntee the integrity of it. Might be worth a look if you are stuggling to find a shop with a good range of hats locally.

I had a lovely GPA hat that I had to replace after being thrown off, I fancied the look of the Champion hats so got fitted with one at Burghley. They are a completely different fit for different head shapes. I have a small head ,narrow face and an oval crown and the GPA fitted beautifully and was so light weight. The Champion hat I had professionally fitted need extra padding and pieces applied to the harness that affect me hearing traffic as it's for round heads. Regret buying it now but goes to show they are very different shapes and fitting do make sure you try your new hat on. X

I had this problem, i like the GPA's but had an older shape (not the bug one). Once that died i got a Protector which suited and i also have a Casco which also suits my head shape and looks good. I also like and suited the Samshields which are a similar shape to the older style GPA's.

To be honest i would wait until some of the big shows like Hickstead are on (not that helpful to you as you are at the other end of the country but you know what i mean!) there will be lots more to try than a normal shop.
