After working our butts off this summer the yard is almost ready for the horses to come home

But..
We need someone part-time to fill in the gaps when OH is teaching and I am work.

It would ideally suit a mum who wants to return to work when the kids are at school. School holidays are no problem as I won't be at work (I am a teacher). But if someone wanted consistend part-time work all year round then that is fine as well.

So apart from local tack shops is there any point in advertising in somewhere like H&H or going through an agency?

Hadlow college is local to us so I also wondered whether is might suit a student?

Any suggestions on recruitment would be greatfully received.

We don't have any big universities near us except Canterbury but I think that is too far away from us to realistically expect someone to drive in everyday.
We do have some campuses near us at Gillingham though so maybe it might be worth recruiting from there.

Just not sure I want to spend all that money on an advert it it doesn't generate a response.

Yard and Groom seems to be a good website to use both for people searching for jobs and also for employers recruiting.

( I was in a similar situation recently when looking for a freelancer and I had placed ads locally and I wish I had used the H &H or agency option as I had a lot of timewasters/unsuitable for various reasons etc when I placed the ad locally!!)

Gd luck though!

I found someone through the BHS website, had about 4 calls, all sounded suitable, ended up with someone very local who wanted to start working freelance and was willing to do whatever I needed, however small. Works well for me.

It's free to put an ad on, and I think grooms use it a lot.

Hi,
I would say Yard and Groom, maybe put a freebie ad on New rider (so if you get no resonses, at least you havent paid for the ad) and i would also say colleges. I know in the past in posted on my old uni students union horseriding club notice board, i stumbled on it so thought why not post, i had quite a lot of responses but sadly the ideal ones didnt have transport as i was a bit out of the way for them - but something like that is def worth a try, also what about local riding clubs websites?
Also, what about mentioning it to your local farriers/instructors etc, they may know of someone?
Good luck,
