I've been looking for a nice project now for about 6 weeks or so, and it has been an absolute nightmare. Most that i have seen have not been as described, its so frustrating!! Either that, or the good ones have already sold.

Any one have any ideas? I keep an eye out on horse mart but are there any other good sites to look at?

Incidentally, im looking for a 14h - 16h project, aprox £1000 to spend but mght be able to stretch to £1500. Im very flexable, it can be mare or gelding....as long as its not too old and not a complete nutcase. I'd like something that is green but honest, or something that has been out of work and needs bringing back.... to sell on again when its ready. Am i asking too much??

Some nice horses can be found via racehorse trainers who have horses not suited for racing. Not all are nutters or unsound. My sister works in racing and over the years has sometimes asked if I know of anyone who wants.......

You may be able to pick something up for a reasonable price as it would save a trainer sending it to sales etc. Might be worth asking.

its a bit of a funny time of year to be selling a horse... especially last week. Dont give up hope, now xmas is over life is a little less hectic and maybe people will advertise for the feb half term...

I havent looked on project horses for a while, but TBH most of them are over priced if you ask me. Plus they tend to have too many problems to turn around in a few months.

Im not keen on TBs, but wouldnt rule out an ex-racing type, ive been to see two and but both were unsound.

vicijp - Do you have any pictures? Where abouts are you based?

I do it practically every year, and I'm not exactly in the best part of the country for horse-hunting without a private helicopter. I always find at least one suitable candidate, but it can take anything from a few days to a few months to find exactly the right one.
But I do have a rule that they stay as long as it takes - so one had stayed 12 weeks when a friend fell in love with him, and one stayed 14 months before I found the right home.
Be patient, he/she is out there, waiting for you!
