Finding a sharer....

Been advertising for a few weeks for a rider/sharer, and had 2 responses!
One was a young girl who said yes, then changed her mind, then got a response from a local 41 year old (apparently) who had 20 years experience on and off with horses, who asked for details... so replied if she was to ride twice a week I would be looking for £15.00.....
Her response was is that £15 a week or per month?, and would I be willing to move him to her parents farm which is not local..... so why would she want him moved further away to ride him if she was local??!!

Is there not anyone out there that is not a time waster or that sounds as dodgy as hell??

I have ads on a few sites, and have asked around people that I know but no luck yet :(
 
It's a pain in the bum but you'll find someone. It's harder coming into winter though.:-( just keep trying. Where have you got him advertised?
 
Took me 6 months to find someone who knew the front of the horse from the back. I had most success from preloved in the end. There are people out there you just have to sift through them and wait for the right person to come along.
 
It's a bit like blind-dating, so hard to match up to right person! It's equally hard from the other side - those wanting to find a share. Right horse, owner, yard manager (they can be tricky) location. Word of mouth got me to the right horse in the end, but it took many goes. Keep trying, it's painful at times, but if you get that right match, it is as good as a marriage!

Try Equine Adverts and Horsemart too - I'm a sharer and always look at 3 sites mainly, preloved, equine ads then horsemart. Found 2 of my former shares on equine ads and then my current share on preloved.

Try looking at the 'wanted' ads as well, if you type in 'horse share loan' or something similar to that on preloved you will see any sharers who have put up an advert for a 'horse wanted'. That's what I did on preloved for my most recent share, I couldnt find anything suitable advertised so advertised myself instead and had an owner contact me that way. There is a similar system on equine ads too where people can advertise for a horse wanted.

As others have said, winter is on its way and finding decent sharers will be harder - but stick with it and someone will come along!

Try improving your ad as well - pictures are a great help (so many owners dont bother putting pics up!), of the horse being ridden not just in the field and some pics of the yard is good too. Facilities make a difference to sharers so make sure you detail exactly what the yard has available. Indoor schools are the dream with winter coming but an outdoor with lights is what would be on my list of requirements. I'd also want to know what I can and cant do with the horse - so if you dont want the horse to be moved make that clear, if you dont want the horse to be jumped make that clear and so on. And advertise the cost on your advert too - the main reason we share is because we cant afford our own, so cost does have an impact on our decisions, but if you are looking for £15 p/w (£60 p/m) that's incredibly reasonable and should encourage more people to contact you.
