Hey all,

Just a bit of advice needed really - the credit crunch has finally hit my family and have since lost the opportunity of keeping my own horse. Needless to say I am gutted - I had just found the most perfect 5 year old to bring on and event too

So now, in order to save myself from going insane i need something to ride. But how should I go about advertising? I am reasonably experienced in the eventing area and can ride youngsters, but really want something to keep me in the saddle. Competing would be a bonus but not really essential. Should I just put little flyers up in local tack shops and see if anything is out there? I dont mind what i ride, just something!!! Do flyers even work? Or is thre a free-ads in this area?

Any advice warmly recieved!!

Thnaks.

Just guessing but being a student vet looking for something in Nottingham/loughborough I guess you may be at SB, have you asked any of the students on the yard there whether they would like a lie in if you mucked out a couple of mornings in exchange for rides? The free ads is called charnwood tails in the area.

I am near loughborough too

Charnwood tails would be a good idea and so would tack shops. A lady has a horse on our yard who has been looking for a sharer and she has now broke her leg so would really appreciate one! He has done trailblazers and is good at xc and dressage. I think he is about 16'2. There is an advert in the bargain barn at normanton if you know where that is? I could get the number if you were interested

I found a share horse - well horses when I lived in loughborough!

Charnwood tails is good, there is (used to be!?) a tack shop in the little village near you just across the motorway (forget its name, maybe someone will help me out here) you could put an advert up in, or I think there is the friday ads in your area too.

I actually got sorted through an internet advert, although Ihave no idea where I advertised now! Sorry, no help, but it was a site linking sharers and sharees all across the country so maybe if you googled it...

Good luck!

BArgain Barn @ Normanton
Riseholm Feeds @ East Leake
Tack Shack @ Shepshed

All take ads, or might know of someone. Charnwood Tails or Equestrian Life might be a good place, as might the local RC's - You have Sutton Bonington, Long Eaton, Lambley all within 30 mins.

i put a few ads on websites and posted on here - had loads on people contact me and then hit the jackpot with a lovely horse owner and two stunners that I can ride - let us know how you get on

Hi, if ur a student vet in nottingham uni, Im ur senior!!!!!

hehe

Loads of the student who keep horses on campus are generally happy for help etc!
Or as a number of the above have put most of the tack shops around are happy to help!
Also, maybe try this yard as they do quite a bit of selling and bringing on so might have heard of something www.stonepitfarm.co.uk

erm......... there are generally lots of people around wanting help its just a case of going out and asking people!

Mine - 17hh warmblood on part livery (so wouldnt have to do anything!) jumped discovery, medium dressage horse... in east leake and also a student could have wednesdays if wanted

Good places to advertise are:

- Cooks Farm Shop
- The Clothes Horse, Syston
- Milner and Son, John O'Gaunt
- The Tack Shack, Shepshed
- Rearsby Lodge, Rearsby
- Charnwood Tails Local Magazine

Also, put an advert up at Brooksby Equestrian Centre and Vale View Equestrian Centre if you can as a lot of people in the area go there to compete.

Dang it! why couldnt you have been available when I was looking at the beginning of last term?!!!!! Sounds great for what I love doing too!!!!

He was lol!! I sent out two emails about him, found my first sharer withing 2 days of sending it though

. Shes on placement now thou! Hes just come avaliable again as i have more work to do so less time to ride and he really needs a lot of work - will start eventing in march hopefully!! Taking it as you have found one now though!
smile.gif
If not i always let my sharer do a class (if they want) if i take him out competing, and you can have 2/3 days per wk including a wednesday and weekend day if wanted! £20 per wk, but hes on part livery so its dead easy, you literally just ride, great menage (Still not frozen) and free floodlights, really friendly yard and instructor on site if lessons wanted! Anyway i dont want to advertise too much here, just PM me if interested haha

awww sounds awesome snowy!!
However i managed to find a part time job at a yard where I get to ride all the horses take them hunting and compete when possible, and get paid (rather than pay) to do it!
So its sorted for me until I start rotations! (ARGH!!!!!!!!! only like 6 months!!!!!! **cringes and goes and hides under the duvet!**)
