How do people go about finding a new home for their much loved horse/pony?
I know I won't have time for my pony as I'm going to university in September as a (very) mature student.
Pony is absolutely bombproof in traffic, loads, travels, easy to clip and shoe etc, she has been a bit quirky to jump in the past with a novice rider, but never bucks rears naps.
Problem is, she's only 13.2hh, but chunky.
I'd love to find a small adult owner so she doesn't get passed around.
The thought of selling her makes me so sad!
Where do you start?

I don’t sell very often, and I tend to use a local sales livery I really like to take the hassle out of it for me, but a few years ago I did have a horse that really didn’t enjoy school work or jumping, and got very stressy out hunting, but was very happy to hack and was brilliant on the roads, etc.

I specifically wanted a hacking home only and used Right Horse Right Home as I felt I was more in control of who I allowed to view him.
I got 15 emails in response to my ad, which was very honest, had vets reports in it, warts and all. I then short-listed 3, two came to view and the second person bought him and he’s still there.

We had an absolute gem of a 13.2 and I ended up finding him a super home via a wanted ad on Pony Club ponies FB page.
He doesn't have an adult owner but the people who bought him stay in regular contact, they keep their ponies at home and have younger jockeys coming through so hopefully he will see out his days there.
It's much easier to find a lovely home.for a good pony than it is for a little horror!

Maybe look through the wanted ads he sounds like what a lot of small adults might enjoy. There is someone on horsequest looking for something like your pony.
