Chloe is going in to surgery this afternoon. She was examined this morning and is good as new, but we know that it will happen again and I can't put her through that. Or myself, felt like my heart was ripping yesterday.

The vet also thinks that her cruciate ligament is giving way as well. Obviously the hip has to be fixed first but hes going to X-ray today so we get an idea of how bad it is.

It may be that that ligament is bad because she's been putting so much stress on it whilst her other hip was recovering from surgery.

I'm in Uni but can't stop crying. I love my girl.

Please send her your best vibes. She's not even two yet and is being so brave.

Xx

Don't worry - she will be fine, and is in the best place... Just think how much better she will be when this is over, and you don't have to worry... Hugs to you.xx

PS, what breed is she? Never caught the earlier threads on this, just last night..

She's a Labrador. Parents health checked but not hugely responsibly bred. I cant describe how much I wished we'd been more careful. Xx

Aww - we've two labs (see avatar!). Both were resuces, and we don't know the breeding of one. We really should get them insured.

My friend's dog had this done (another lab) and he was right as rain afterwards...xx

My old lab had cruciate problems too and was irresponsibly bred but as much as I regret buying him for that reason, he was an amazing friend and I was so proud that he was my dog.

You love her despite her troubles and costsinvolved, so just get through today as best you can - bet she'll surprise you with her recovery! :)

{{{{vibes}}}} for Chloe x

Thinking of you. I understand how you wish youd been more careful but none of this is your fault, you are doing the very best for Chloe. She is extremely lucky to have such a caring owner who is doing everything possible to make her comfortable and live a healthy, active life. God knows, she could have ended up in a far far worse situation without you so dont beat yourself up. Chin up, she'll soon be home and on the road to recovery x

Thinking of you and sending loads of healing vibes for Chloe.
I'm feeling a bit guilty as I have had some good news regarding Jess.
Anyway, now all my healing vibes can go to Chloe and you. Keep us updated and hugs.

Thank you all! Your vibes are working so far, she's had the op and is coming round as we speak.

The good news is that he x-rayed both stifles to see about that ligament, and the right is marginally worse than the left but very, very marginally. So although it is something we will need to keep an eye on it's most likely that she'll be fine and it's just poor because she was supporting all her weight on that leg for so long. So that is good news.

Thank you all so much. I dont have much in way of support here so it's hugely appreciated.

Thanks guys. Just got back from vet. She was sat in the lap of a vet nurse when we got there, still very sleepy but contented and calm. Will see what shes like on her feet when she comes home tomorrow.

Good news that she is ok and over the op, have they recommended any physio at all?

My girl years ago tore her ligament and went very weak through compensating, but a course of swimming at the dog pool really helped her muscles and the ligament didn't give her any probs after that and she loved it.

She already swims at a hydrotherapy pool once a week.

Shes killing me tonight she hasn't stopped crying since we got her home at 3. Now I'm crying too. Argh god :(
