One of the unluckiest horses in the world is this minute being prepared for his general anesthetic for an arthroscopy on his hock. He bashed it and chipped a bone around a fortnight ago. He's due to go into surgery around now and I should hear how it went later today. Am feeling rather wobbly, so good vibes much appreciated.

This is him strutting his stuff in his last competition just before this latest injury:

I just hope he'll be ok and we'll be able to pick up where we left off.

Oh Halfstep, I am keeping everything crossed for him! This will be me exactly a week from now so I know 100% what you are going through

If everything goes to plan (which I am sure it will do) when can you have him home and what is the recovery period?

Thanks everyone. Becki - recovery period is around 10 days box rest followed by controlled walking, building up to trotting and eventually cantering over around a month, but this does depend on what exactly they find when they look inside the joint. Because he is sound, we assume the damage is minimal, but you never really know.

My poor boy. No hay all day today and only a bran mash last night. He'll be fuming. I hope the vets have armour plating on when the get him out!
