Dolly is my baby. I have owned her for 5 years, and she is my horse of a lifetime. About 3 weeks ago now, she came out of the box hopping lame, couldn't even put weight on the leg. Called vet out straight away (suspected infection), vet agreed and prescribed antibiotics and bute. Did everything I was told and she improved no end. Had to call vet after 5 days and let him know how she was, which I did, and he told me I could start riding her again. She was absolutely fine in walk, but felt a little off in trot. I took it easy for a few days and she seemed to improve, but then last Saturday she was really lame in trot. Totally different to before and didn't think at all it was anything to do with the infection, but poultice just in case. Nothing came out. Called vets on Monday and he came back out on the Tuesday. (Waited until Tues as wanted same vet to see her, kept her box rest until he came). She was slightly unlevel, but nowhere near as bad as the saturday, but she is swollen around the fetlock. Vet is not
sure what is going on and she is going in on Weds to have scans and x-rays. Up until today, I have been fine, but today I have really started to worry about what might be wrong. Can you all please keep your fingers crossed that it is nothing too serious that can't be fixed.
My other horse has been diagnosed with ringbone and arthritis over the last 2 years, and that is really on my mind now, although her lameness is different to what his was.
