My girlie had her 3rd Irap injection today so far there has been no improvemment so really hoping the 3rd will be the one to work if not its back to steriod injection which has worked for her in the past very well.
Was wondering who out there has had a horse that needed steriod injections to their coffin joint and how long did they stay in work for, I know each horse is different and it depends on how often they need to have the injection also what joint supplements did you use? Lots of questions I know but would just like some more info about other peoples experiences please good/ bad it all helps x

It depends on what the original injury is. Jesper had an initial steriod injection into both coffin joints for suspected arthritis, however the effects wore off after roughly four months and he was referred for an MRI which revealed collateral ligament damage. He had a further steriod injection after a year of rest in preparation for him returning to work. He returned to work for nine months but we made the decision to retire him in February of this year.
He can't have any further steriod injections as he suffered from a rare side effect - polydipsia (sp?) which I think is the first sign of steriod induced laminitis.

She has arthritic changes in her coffin joint no soft tissue injury, she also has high articular ring bone which is fusing but from time to time inflames this then inflames the coffin joint as a knock on effect hopefully once the ringbone has fused it will stop upsetting the coffin joint as much I know that eventually it wil get worse as it degenerative but just wanted other people experiences with steriod injections incase this 3rd IRAP dosent work x
