Try not to worry chick.......((((((hugs for u)))))))

[/ QUOTE ]Hey CALA, thanks, we've been to a game fair with him today and he has thoroughly enjoyed it - his eye is stable and will see when the vet can do it when I go back tuesday.

He's been the talk of that day - everyone thought he was wonderful!!
smile.gif
I had to agree!!

((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Poor Finny - Isaac my Rotti that got P2S had this, its like a 3rd eye (thats what the vets said).
It was not nice but Isaac did not need an operation, I know it happens more when a dog gets stressed.

I really hope he will be ok :-( Poor Finny.

Poisitive Vibes coming your way.

Get better soon Finny.xxxx

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks hun, the vet explained it to me, and she said it is likely to have occured with Finny as he has droopey eyes - and basically that he hadn't grown fully - his skull was still to grow and it just 'pops' out occasionally due to the third eyelidnot being quite taught enough.

Don't think he was stressed...

Thankies though - will keep everyone updated on when his op is etc. x

Cherry eye is fairly common in BTs. It is genetic, so your dog shouldn't be bred (and it wouldn't be a bad idea to tell the breeder you got Finny from about the condition).

[/ QUOTE ]Have spoken to breeder - his dogs have not had Cherry eye - I have looked online but can't see anywhere stating that it is a genetic condition - so breeding from Finn is not been discounted - TBH prob not going to anyway but who knows. x

Hi KJJ, Big Dog (Dogue de Bordeaux x Rottie) had to have the same operation when he was about Finn's age. We too were worried about the anaesthetic as the Dogues are particularly bad with it, even for big dogs.

He just had the minimum whiff of it and everything went very smoothly. If you want any other info just pm me.

Try not to worry, he'll be fine!

[/ QUOTE ]Hey hun, thanks for that - he is booked in at the specialists next thursday - was Big dogs eye sore after the op? (Was it just the one eye or both?)

It was just one eye he had done (vets expected other eye to follow suit but we are a few years down the line now and it hasn't).

His eye didn't look bad at all afterwards TBH, no major swelling or anything, just looked like he had REALLY long eyelashes because of the stitches!

It's a simple op, the only concern we had was re the anaesthetic... but as I say with big dogs they literally give them the bare minimum.
