Just wondering if any you have fire extinguishers on your yards and what type you use? I'm looking into getting some for my yard but don't really know where to start? Would the fire service come and do a visit to advise me if a rang them? Thankies!

I have the full range on my yard and I have them checked regularly and have also under gone a Health & Safety check by our local council and passed with flying colours, would advise that the minimum you have is one for electrical and one for paper.

If you need any help - send me a pm.

My father has been in the fire extinguisher and safety business most of his life - he has also been in the fire service too.

The local fire service wouldnt come out - i would imagine you would have to call a fire protection company.

Where are you based?

if you look in the yellow pages there are loads of fire prevention companies. they will come out and advise you as to which extinguishers to have, they supply them and then come back and check/refill every year. I have to have them for my stable yards, my holiday let and my thatched farm house so we have loads about the place. You need a fire point on your stable yard with the appropriate signage, no smoking signs and the relevant extinguisers for the likely fires. If you have a yard kitchen you should also have a fire blanket. It is not hugely expensive. Allow an initial cost of approx £100 per extinguisher then an annual fee of approx £20 each and that should cover you. There is absolutely no point having the extinguishers if you don;t have them checked and refilled every year. Have never been able to get the fire service out - although I have checked with them several times to see if they will do a risk assessment for the thatched farmhouse and accessibilty in case of fire.
