Well, I bought myself a house in Sept 2010 and in Dec 2011 I decided it was just not right without a dog so along came Dogs Trust rescue Molly.

I am trying to make improvement to my house and (other than general decorating etc that I've done) replaced the very dated and essentially condemmed gas fire on Thurs with a swanky new life like one (not allowed a proper one where I live).

Well, I now have one very happy dog who is currently fast asleep, lying with her face on the hearth! God knows how she can be that close! I knew she liked fires having seen her do th same at my parent's house with their real fire. So glad I spent all the money to keep the dog happy :D

Prior to this she slept on her bed by the radiator but that is being ignored now!

Does anyone else have a fire/heat-obsessed hound?

(I would post a pic but my camera's broken and my phone doesn't take good pictures!)

Here is Dylan and my OH asleep after a hard days work by the fire which was on the way out during these photos (we have no central heating, if your cold head for the fire)

Ha yeah I do! My jerry will not sit on the floor in my front room (wooden floor) unless the fire is on she also very much likes to stand next to the radiators at all times!

This is my dads dog Harry, he adores the fire...he rests his head on the hearth too, ends up with a really dry nose! :)

Gizmo, he also like to lie with the whole of him on the harth. How he doesn't melt I don't know :)

That is what mine does too - seems a load of dogs have a very high threshold when it comes to heat/pain!!! I honestly don't know how they don't fry their brains! haha
