Fireworks upsetting your dog

And here. Evening walks are out so we're doing bigger morning walks and where I can will get us out in the day (if it's not the fireworks it's the torrential rain!)

Ivy is doing okay, not panting or pacing and the crate den does seem to be doing its job but she's definitely not happy and it is getting a bit much now having it every single evening.

There’s an argument raging on my village Facebook page between the ‘it’s one day a year, get over it’ group and the people who have spent the last few days calming terrified animals amid the random bangs coming from peoples’ gardens. I wasn’t prepared for the organised display as my dog was fine with them last year but it was much louder this year, next time I can prepare for it but why on earth are these things freely available? The non dog owners seem to think there’s a magic pill we can give our dogs that will stop them from being scared of all fireworks for a whole week. If only!

None here so far.

Dog is anticipating it a bit. Shakes for a few minutes and then settles back down. Holding it together on the most part.

Fast asleep at 12.30 last night and some idiot started setting some off. My dogs went mad, so I had to go down to settle them. The last firework went off at 1am.
What kind of idiot has fireworks at 1am on the day after bonfire night??

I wish they were banned. I've signed so many petitions over the years but nothing gets done. The little jrt I lost 4 years ago was petrified of fireworks. Every year I thought I was going to loose her. The lab we had at the time wasn't in the slightest bit bothered . We now have a different lab who is equally as unbothered!! My parsons was really good, she had a bark at a few when they first started then went to sleep. The Sunday night she didn't bother at all.

I've been caught out a couple of times this year - once riding Arty at 9pm on the Wednesday before (so didn't expect them) and heard the whistle of a rocket from the garden behind us. I jumped off and was on the ground as it detonated in the sky with an almighty bang, and Arts shot forwards a few steps but seemed OK. The second time was on Pebbles in dusk during the week, a full half hour display this time but a few fields away from us. She was not remotely bothered and we just carried on with our schooling session but I could hear dogs all around yowling and barking, poor things.

Very glad my dog who was terrified of fireworks has less hearing now, so as long as she is inside the house she is OK.

I dread this time of year. Our evenings are normally spent quietly, with dog in her bed by my side and an early night.

But once again last night the TV was blaring plus music playing while we were trapped in the lounge waiting for the 'all clear'. Finally I was able to get her out for a wee and we went to bed.

We were woken at ¼ to 1 by a firework display.

I am done with people.
