Just wondering if anyone could recommend me a 4x4. Basically I'm looking to sell my Corsa and horse lorry and looking to buy a 4x4 and take my trailer license. I need a 4x4 for getting to fro work, my Corsa is getting wrecked going up and down muddy back lanes... can anyone recommend an ideal 1st 4x4 thats good at towing (only be two small ponies), if such a thing excists lol.

Although taking the towing test is a good idea there may be a way of towing with your B licence depending on the weight of the ponies

What is the total weight of the ponies ?

No idea on the weight... ones a 14.1hh Arab x Welsh and a 12.3hh Exmoor.

We've never had a 4x4 always had a lorry so not sure on a first time one lol.

Legal on a B licence =
BATESON LIGHT HORSE TRAILER

Nissan X trail (4X4) with these specifications/dimensions
Unladen/kerb = 1515
GVW = 2050
Towing = 2000
Max trailer plated MAM = 1450 kgs

FREELANDER 1 (2001 - 2005)
Unladen/kerb = 1500
GVW = 2040
Towing = 1800
Max trailer plated MAM = 1460 kgs

SUBARU FORRESTER (4X4)
Unladen/kerb = 1465 minimum
GVW = 2050 maximum
Towing = 2000
Max trailer plated MAM = 1450 kgs

Deduct trailer unladen weight from max trailer plated weight to get maximum load/horse weight for the trailer
Example:- Nissan (1450) minus BATESON LIGHT HORSE TRAILER (675 appx) = load/horse 775 kgs

Trailer can be downplated by Bateson either for free or for little cost

Do the two ponies add up to more than 775 kgs in weight?
