I am so excited I just had to post on here! Yesterday Whin and I went to our first affilated (rated as I am in america) Show.

The day started out a bit stressful as I had to find my way around a parade while driving my trailer to get to the show and it made me a bit later than I wanted to be.

We both went into warm up rather stressed, I am not sure who needed the warm up more, Whin or me. but finally we hit our groove. Whin is a bit of a ham so she actually gets a bit of extra spark when we are at shows (at least for the first test)

I felt good about our first level ride (sorry I get the BD levels a bit mixed up its the level before elementary) We had a spook away from the judge on our strechy circle but then she streched nicely into the bridle but the circle was a bit wonky. I also forgot to steer on the 15 meter canter circle and it got a bit pear shaped. But other than the fact that I can't steer I felt pretty good about it.

Whin came out for our second warm up in good form, last year she felt that it was very unfair to be ridden twice in one day so she would quite on me sometimes. So I was happy she wasn't sticky. My friend came over to me in warm up smiling and asked me if I had seen my test for the first ride. I said no, she told me I had gotten a 70% which is the highest score I have gotten. I was over the moon about it, as I was not expecting to score that high.

We went in for our Second Level debut (elementary level in BD) We started it out with some excitment as we were rounding the corner to enter at A Whin spooked threw her head in the air. our test would have read;

A enter Wild Gallop
X halt salute

some times you just have to make dressage exciting! She did come back to me quickly but our first medium was not as great. We fluffed one of the turns on the haunches and still had some steering errors, our last canter medium I asked for alot and it turns out I couldn't quite get it back, so we cut our corner badly. All in all I felt it was a good first, second level test. My goal was to score over a 60% and we ended up with a 62% so I was pleased with that.

I was very pleased with Whin yesterday she tried her heart out, and is really becoming a very sweet mare!

If you have made it this far thanks for reading!

Thanks JFTD, I think you deserve cup cakes for making it through that novel sized Post!

Not at all! It's:
1. Shorter than most of my posts :p
2. Interesting reading - the international dimension
3. Always cool to hear about other people having good days out :) You should be very pleased!

That said, I've never been one to turn down cup cakes :p

Well done!

We have all been there with-
Enter at A
Plan goes to pot :)

Sounds like lots to go on with!

Cupcakes in the post? :)

I just read your post about your guy who is so cute btw!!! and you entertain with lovely photos, I need to get better at that, next show I will hunt some one down and force them to take photos (;

I also like hearing about international showing (I guess that is why I am on this forum) although some times I feel that you all have regular lessons with Charlotte and Carl!!!

Dianchi, I am glad to know I am not the only one who's centerlines blow up occasionally :D

Thank you all for the kind words!!!

P.S. I heard that Red ribbons are first place in England is that true?

Hehe thanks - I'd be more than willing to oblige with photos for you, were you not on the other side of a very large pond! :D

Eek, certainly not! Seriously, I've had two dressage useful lessons in about ten years and they were both with a local eventer and certainly not with Mr Hester, or anyone remotely associated with him!

Red is first over here, though I think it's blue for first in Pony Club (can't guarentee this though as it's not a world I ever moved in!)

Thanks for the offer on the photo's its the thought that counts right!

Ha ha ha I am less jealous now that I know that you don't all take weekly lessons with Carl Hester! Though there is still so much dressage over there. It is awesome.

Here even some of the dressage guys wear giant belt buckles, cowboy hats and loooong handle bar mustaches, Its always funny to see those guys in there show attire with a big old mustache!

When ever I get Red Ribbons from now on I will tell myself "In England this is a first place" (;
