Just got thinking after reading the cleaning wounds post. Putting together a diy first aid kit for horses and just wondering what thinks you think should be in it?

Purple spray!!!!!!!!!
if i cant fix it with purple spray i ring a vet lol

all jokes aside
mine has cotton wool, purple spray, muscle and tendon gel (gold label), antiseptic cream, latex gloves, cool pack, Naf sticky legs (cooling paste), vet wrap and animal intex

Having sworn by Purple Spray for centuries, I was soundly told off by the vet for using it. His argument was that if the vet was needed subsequent to the use of PS s/he would have to clean it off before inspecting the wound and it would be painful to the horse. as well as a nuisance to the vet.

Mind you, I still use it on minor lesions!

Also the purple spray we have access to is not the same as the purple spray used by the vets. I was advised against using it & also wound powder as well by my vet. The wound powder drys the skin around the wound & inhibits the healing. The sides of the wound should be kept moist.
