I know there have been posts about this before but when I tried to search nothing came up. So what is in your first aid kit? We have 3 horses and have hardly anything left in our 'first aid drawer' so I'm stocking back up and wondering if there are things that I have forgotten/didn't know about. :)

I have just bought a really good first aid kit from my vet, for £51.00 £5.00 goes to horse charity, but it would cost about £70.00 for all the stuff see The Equine Clinic , Turningshaw Farm, Houston. It has dressings and other essentials, thermometer and stethoscope.
In addition, I have 2 single use antibiotic gels ( "mushroom" dispensers), and a large Betadine dry spray (Superdrug), also I have two sterile saline pouches(check use by date), and a tub of udder cream and a tub of Stockholm Tar, and a Large Milton bottle, also Wasp Ease, a tin of Jeyes Fluid, and a small Sudocream, 10 Danolin, an eyebrow tweezer, three new scissors sizes S, M, L. and an anti-bacterial hand wash, a small basin and a large basin, a set of clean stable bandages.
Fly spray to be kept for emergencies, the tel number of all three vets locally.
Two thermometers. Two Animalintex, a first aid for horses booklet.a tube of Sedolin, a roll of cotton wool.
A torch, a pair of reading glasses, a notepad and a pen.

In mine I have,

Thermometer
Vetwrap
Animalintex & vet gamgee
Flamazine/Dermisol
Blue spray
Sudocreme
Bute
Duct tape
usually some Trim which I hoard as Nitty gets cellulitis quite often
O, and the vet bucket which is only for 'clean'

Probably other things too but I can't remember what they are and besides, the vet lives on my yard so I'm spoilt for instant access to quite complicated supplies if I need them!

It has dressings and other essentials, thermometer and stethoscope, and is in a really good container, with separate pockets for all different things.

A spare thermometers. Two Animalintex, a first aid for horses leaflet, booklet.a tube of Sedolin, a roll of cotton wool.
A torch, a pair of reading glasses, a notepad and a pen.
The basic first aid kit has Gauze swaps, gloves, surgical scissors, softban dressings, elastic dressings, and vet wrap (enough to dress one leg from elbow to hoof)., Also veterinary gamgee, and melonin sterile dressings, various sizes.
A pack of anti bacterial wipes, and a pack of kitchen towels.
Assume that you will need some obscure supply from your vet on Good Friday, and you won't go far wrong........ my boy cut his sheath on Friday last, it swelled up, and looked rather alarming ......phoned vet at 7.49 pm, he advised using the Betadine, after hosing with cold water (no hose) or using the sterile saline.

As others, but also nappies for poulticing (check sizes, my horse has big feet!). Wondergel-handy for everything. Baby oil, vet powder, spare bandages.
