Its not really my report but it sort of counts! My other half took his horse to his first BE event on Sunday for the BE90.
After a bad start to the morning as we got to the yard to find that some g*t had stolen the wheel trims off our lorry in the yards car park!
Anyway- plaited him up (my job!) at about 7am and loaded up where he proceeded to try and dig his way out of the lorry!
Arrived in plenty of time to warm up and let him see the sights and he warmed up really well. Went in to do his test and fully expected his eyes to pop out at so many arenas but he got on with the job and apart from 1 little bit of resistance was good and got a 33 dressage with 8 for his paces.
So very pleased with that. Sadly that was announced halfway round his sj round and OH was so shocked that he was distracted for a moment and had a fence down which then went on to 2 fences as he lost the rythym which was a shame but the horse has only had 1 SJ outing so we were pleased he even jumped the coloured fences!
Then on to the cross country. I thought it was quite testing for an intro so we were a bit concerned that he might be a bit green but he went clear! Jumped everything with about 1 foot to spare so need to work on that but very pleased with him.
He finished 15th out of 42 so not bad for a first attempt.
So home work is the show jumping.
He is off to larkhill next so fingers crossed for a double clear.

I will add pics when I can.

Sounds like a very promising first event! well done. Might see you at Larkhill

Ditto see you guys at Larkhill!

It wasn't just me then that thought the xc looked big for an early Intro I would be interested to know if it shared any fences with the PN. I saw lots of people having issues with that short 2 stride double skinny bush things downhill, and quite a few opt out of the corner.

Looked to be a tricky course but we had a fab round, just wish Tdown wasn't so twisty almost went the wrong way twice!!

I thought it was a decent size and I did quite a few intro's last year. I opted out of the corner - I was concerned that my horse would spook at the blessed flowerpot on top of it and I thought the alternative wouldn't take much longer. That decision cost me a rosette as I was a couple of seconds over!

Argh how frustrating! At least you didn't do what I did, got to fence 5 of the sj realised we were clear (minor miracle) and then had 3 down coz I lost all concentration!!! what a wally!

Hey Chloe_GHE yes i would say that i too thought the XC was up to height and fairly testing especially with the corner at the top of the hill, i braved it and so glad i did as my horse flew it although nearly knocked the flower pot off lol . The double of bullfinches ( i think thats what they're called!) rode really well and my horse can have a tendancy to have a short stride so i would say believe in yourself and your horse !!
Good luck for your next event though ;-)
