I'm looking to bit my 3 year old over the summer & wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to used as a first bit?

He's a warmblood & not got anything worth noting such as a thicker tongue or anything.

I don't want anything single jointed & am really not fond of full cheeks due to seeing mis-haps with them on more than one occasion - so personal preference there.

I've been looking at the NS team up with the larger 70mm rings? Or am I better off with rubber/keys/D-ring/vulcanite snaffle or something else?

Thanks! :)

I've just bitted mine for first time in a straight bar happy mouth. I agree on no joints. This is warm vs. cold metal, soft and subtle

I painted a good layer of black treacle on it for the first 4 /5 times and he now grabs it out of my hand. I'll move on to giving him a treat when he takes it shortly and drop the sticky goo!

Ooh that looks nice & friendly & good tip with the treacle! I'll go & have a look now thank you!

I too have a 3yr old I will be bitting this summer! He is quite mouthy so my plan is to use a mullen mouth eggbutt snaffle but that is because I have one in my collection. If I had to buy one I quite like the sound of the Bomber happy tongue bits. I do like D ring cheeks for a baby too, far better than full cheeks IMO
