So I've just took the plunge and affiliated bsja!! Was hoping to go to onley on the 13th as a first show but took a kick to the arm last week so that plan has been foiled!! So now we're aiming for markfield on 28th. Has anyone been here before? What's parking like? And does it get busy? Gonna try and head over to watch one day as bever been but in case I can't thought it would be worth an ask!! Thanks in advance :)

Been there donkeys years ago but only unaff or on a ticket. As I remember it there was good parking, a fairly good warm up space for an indoor and they managed the collecting ring well, its the only place I've seen them enforce the rule about the height of warm up fences. However I am going back to early 2000s so it may well have changed.

Back in the late 1980s it was my favourite place to compete! Not sure what it is like now, but I think going to watch is a good idea as it is your first. I would not worry too much, one of the benefits of BS is that the courses are of a standard. Have a great time!

I have not been for a few years but it would not be the best surface I have ever jumped on. Other than that there is plenty of parking and the warm up is "just" big enough. Good luck.

Dark, Dull and deep. On the other hand an organised show and good food! Surface isn't bad unless it's changed since last year?! Warm up is quite small and getting to the fences can be difficult especially when busy.
Loads of parking on hard standing!

If you're in Lecis, have you looked to see what Vale View has on?

It's years since I've been to Markfield show jumping and it wasn't my favourite venue then. Parking is fine..........plenty of hardstanding on a slight very gentle slope in parts. Warm-up is not great, there is a holding area too, arena is square. Used to have a reputation of building up to height, but the venue has probably gone past its sell-by-date now as poster above says - dark, dull and deep. There are better places.

Agree with this. The lady taking the entries was lovely when we went. Wish I could say the same about the woman handling the collecting ring/running order!

Thanks for all the replies!! Mixed reviews by the sound of things!! Going to head over on Sunday to see for myself I think!!
gunnergundog vale view are arena eventing the next day I'm available to jump!! Which is annoying as I love there as a venue!! Thank you anyway!! :)

I liked it when we went, large car park, as you say not the biggest warm up, but arena is a good size and a plus for me - the jumps are nicely 'aged' i.e. not to bright and spooky! Can't take one of ours to Keysoe anymore because they have too many scary fillers, and just as soon as we get him used to one, out comes another one and he gets eliminated again!

Food is good, the attitude of some of the staff not so good. Plenty of parking and doesn't get too busy these days. It hasn't changed a great deal over the years
