First clinic with ex racer :)

Took exracer to his first dressage clinic today!! Travelled much better and was a lot easier to tack up!! He was a bit naughty to lead to the outdoor school and he had a few moments whilst being led round outside!! Once indoors he was great!! We had a fab lesson with my friend. Then friend went out whilst we did intro A. He was a little unsettled when she went out but he tried hard and it was a first to be ridden on his own away from home in the arena. Once we had both finished we did a bit of work in the outdoor, he was good. Another first, riding in a different outdoor!!

Very pleased!!

Plan is to take him into the warm up at the same venue next weekend whilst it's quiet!!

That's great, he sounds as though he is on your side, and you just have to keep moving on, no need for meltdowns.

Bit nervous about the warm up next weekend. I think I just need to not over think it and just get on with it!!

Well done! He sounds a lovely boy. You'll be fine next weekend! You have done your prep , I bet he'll be super.
If it's any help I used to get on mine and then pop him straight on a 15m circle in the corner of a new warm up doing loads of tansitions. Just to make doubly sure he was listening before I ventured out to do anything more exciting in the middle!

Thanks firewall, that's pretty much what I did today in the outdoor. I stayed fairly close to the gate and just kept changing direction. Might not make it to the middle this time! but if he behaves in the corner that will be enough!!
