Just entered myself for dressage comp on Sunday at another venue,as our Saturday competition will not happens again because not enough entries. So,question is,how do you cope and what do you do if you hacking there and may have a long wait between classes(as last moment entry). Do you take any water, food, headcollar? Do you untack in between classes? Hubby will walk with me on foot to the venue,so cant carry much. Any help and tips welcome.

I would definatly take a headcollar and leadrope, you can always put this on over the bridle in between classes, or take bridle off completely if you prefer. I always have some of those tack cleaning wipes close by so if bridle stays on and gets covered in any grass/ saliva/ etc... its just one simple wipe clean!
Also take a blanket to throw over horse in between classes - this will help keep muscles warm whilst your waiting around.
It depends how long you've got between classes as to whether or not you untack compeltely. I wouldn't take food as there is usually somewhere you can give the pony a pick of grass. With regards to water, again if there is a long wait in between classes then defo make provisions for giving pony a drink - could you not ring centre up and see if you can just take a bucket and possibly fill it up there??? It would also help save your other half's arms if he just needs to carry bucket, rug, headcollar and wipes!
Good luck x

ETA: when I was 21 I coped by getting through copius amounts of cigerettes/ snickers bars and coca-cola, but this isn't really recomended! It will give you and pony the chance to soak up the atmosphere in unfamiliar surroundings and see how you get on away from your home yard which is great. Take time to watch others compete and get a feel for being away from home. Most of all good luck, have fun x

can you call the venue and see if times can be changed to closer together - i.e. end of first class and start of later class?

You forgot to include camera in that list, we will want pics :D

good luck
