Ponydaughter and I share a horse and we've had him for just over a year now. Last summer was a bit of a write-off as he tweaked himself in the field and was on and off lame for most of it. This year however, it's all coming together. We registered him BS at the beginning of the year and enrolled the help of a local SJ trainer as although daughter is not a bad little rider, she was having issues getting the canter right. Well, it's certainly paid dividends. He's jumped two lovely double clears BN in the last month so we went out yesterday to Field House hoping for a third. Daughter was a bit :O at some of the jumps as they had their Derby meeting the day before so it looked like someone had built a rockery in the arena and there were lots of fence dressings, a huge water tray in the middle of the ring and, in all, plenty to look at. She went in and decided to show him the "rockery" which he didn't like the look of at all but bless him they did a lovely round and he was honest enough to go for it. It was two phase and he had a bit of a wobble going past the water (it wasn't in their class) but covered the ground well. She wasn't really trying for time but they went and bloomin won it! So pleased for them both.

The aim now is to get his last DC and then try for his Disco DCs but we're having problems finding shows running Disco at the weekend as most seem to be running amateur qualifier classes. Now it's the summer hols we may have to do some midweek shows.
As for me, we're now embarking on our BD career and managed to get two sheets for Petplans in our first Prelim outing so we're both happy bunnies at the moment
Maltesers and a nice cup of tea if you've reached this far.

Brilliant! I was proud seeing my 5 year old daughter do rising trot for the first time without any hands at the weekend so can't imagine what it must be like to see them win a sj comp! Well done to daughter and you for the stressage...I guess also well done to pony who is clearly a bit of a star at more than one discipline! :-))

Thanks guys for your kind comments. Doesn't seem five minutes since she was doing hers first rising trot :) pony is indeed a star, we just have to fight it out between us who gets to ride him ;)
