first competition with Hemir

Hello

Got up at 4 this morning to get Hemir sorted and give him his breakfast (yes i know a little early

)....at 5:30 we set off - after a bit of silliness!!! Hemir decided it was too early and went back to Dee!!! He also didn't want to eat his breakfast - so Dee finished it

oops, never mind though!!!!

So we were off!!! I was sooo tired but couldn't sleep - i was a little urm well EXCITED to say the least!!! We travelled for 2 and a half hours

Got there an hour early but gave me enough time to warm up properly and get him looking reasonably good!!!

Dressage first, Prelim 7!! We had an almost perfect test in pactice, good transitions, a nice halt at the end...etc!!! Was really pleased......but got into the arena and my mind went blank! I messed up the first part of the couse and was really unhappy, luckily the judge was really nice about it, she just said to start again from where i went wrong (baisically i started the test fom C instead of from A!!!!)...so continued my test, went ok. The trot canter transitions were ok, but he tried to break into trot so got a smack on his shoulder

Then the canter trot was ok, other than he flicked his head about

LOL!!! I forgot to ask for my test at the end!!! But we'll phone the organiser and ask for it!! WE didn't get placed, but judge said that if he wasn't so tense and looking around all the time, and if he relaxed, then we could poduce a good test...which made me really happy!!! I know i need to work with him though

We then had abreak of about an hour so took him back to the trailer and undressed him!!! Went and watched the clear round...

Back on, Jumping this time

60cm!!! But warm-up didn't go so well....mum put a tiny jump up, Hemir stopped. I toook him round to do it again...stop and I nearly fell off!!! I then came at it in canter...he cleared it from almost stand-still because i kcikced him on harder than he was expecting!!!!

Into the ring.... I was going to trot round it but Hemir had other idea.....FLYING round it!!!! And yep he flew

I got the striding wrong a couple of times but he helped me out and we jumped clear

in 58 seconds.....and came 2nd!!!!! So proud of my boy!!! this is the first time we have been to a competition, and the first time we have jumped more than 4 jumps in a row

I couldn't stop smiling

and everyone was coming up an congratulating me and telling me how well we went together!!

LUNCH!!!

then this afternoon we did some more jumping

2'6/2'9...BUT there were those scary filler things which eat you so we got eliminated!!! Never mind!! I went over most of the jumps one handed as he got a smack on the bum to make him go over the fillers, i nealy fell off, and we had 2 fences down

so not such a good round, but i had fun and tbh i kne wthe fillers were going to be a problem

Our last one was the PUISSANCE!!!!

well seeing as though the jump started at 1m -the highest i have jumped (with Hemir) at home (i think

) we were in for a challenge....there was a BIG oxer to jump...1m wide and 1m in height

I was sooo scared!!!! LOL!!! ALL the other competitors were over 30 and had horses that have been jumping for years

Plus this oxer had a filler under it

So i walke dhim up to the jump, then started my canter and decided he needed a little encouragement to get over it...a little smack on the bum and he flew then round the corner to the 1m 'proper' puissance fence...and he flew it again as if it was nothing

I was almost crying, just becaus ehe had made me soo happy

One thing that annoyedme was not only did they put the puissance fence up but they put the oxer up to

Back part of oxer was put up to 1.15m and front part 1.05 and puissance fence was put up to 1.10m

I was sh!!ting myself I have NEVER jumped Hemir this big before and i was competiting against adults

Again he went clear

Back part was then put up to 1.20m and front part of oxer was put up to 1.10m! Puissance fence was put up to either 1.15m or 1.20m, not quite sure!!! We had the front bar of the oxer down, but the back bar stayed up, and we cleared the puissance fence

SO unforunatly we were eliminated but who cares my horse flew round and i am sooo pleased with him!!! Apparently i had more support than the ider that won....only one person clapped for him, but after each fence i cleared EVERYONE clapped

i am really pleased with today and dont care that i got up at 4!!!!! It was definatly worth it!!!!

I do have videos of my 2 jumping ounds, but none of the puissance -mum had a headache and wanted to watch!!! The only problem is they are on the camera that i can't upload onto the computer with

so all in all a fab day

definatly makes up for yesterday
