First Day Without the Back Brace On

Lol, the watertrough sounds fun :D So long as I can have some ducks in there with me :D :D

No, no mention of back support... I like the look of the Prolite :). Then again, the physio was meant to call... I'm wondering whether it's worth waiting for them or to just go privately. I think my only hesitation is will the private physio be used to dealing with someone with a recently broken back.

What duck do you fancy? Mallard or Indian Runner? Or in orange sauce!?

200% go for recommended private physio. Is there a long process via the NHS? I had to wait ages ie 3+ weeks for my first appointment with NHS physio, however that was years ago (god I'm sounding old) don't know what its like now. But the treatment I received somehow didn't agree with my back/neck and so went down the private route and I actually recovered much much quicker. No harm in ringing and having a consultation.
You never know you could actually get better and fitter quicker and shock your consultant and be able to ride (at walk) much sooner.

Good points :D. Keltic gave me the number of someone who sounds good :D. I was going to ring him on Monday and see what he thinks :D

I have to say, it will be nice when it stops being ouchy enough to be annoying, but not ouchy enough to be pain and therefore needing tonnes of sympathy :). Is very tempting to take painkillers, but I get addicted to things easily, so trying to hold off (hideous memories of coming down off the Codeine. Brrrrr).

Very likely. There's waiting list of over 10 weeks in my area for NHS physio. eek: My private physio had discharged me just as the letter arrived inviting me to make an appointment with NHS. The funny thing was, I had to ring them when I could attend on the next working day but in their 'blurb', they said that they needed 24 hrs notice if you couldn't attend.:confused:

10 weeks!!! Its even longer now then!

Mrs M - what about one of these:

http://www.patient.co.uk/health/TENS-Machines.htm

this may help you. I remember my physiotherpist using this sort of device on me a few times..... lovvvvvely.

I think you should open up a sports therapy centre for us back suffers.

Went for a chiro session this evening as was numb behind my head to ear on one side...think it was me resting the phone on my shoulder with my ear and then dropping it on the desk! whoops! are you still there caller????? Amazing what you can do with a phone and not on a horse!

Ah, the TENS machine :D. I've heard a lot about them, but hadn't thought of one for this particular wonkiness. More likely to buy a massage pad for Dizz . Ho hum. Will see what physio says - maybe we could share the massaage pad lol

That's the problem with phones now, too damn small! :D

Now that looks rather nice... :D

Does it come in 6'2" with broad shoulders and narrow hips...????

Sorry, I digress (again, must be the evening for it ).

I will look again in the morning when I've rounded up both brain cells. Ta hun :D

Sorry MrsM, haven't read the whole thread cos I am tired but I reckon it's totally understandable you will be knackered. what a positive step though!! fab news. looking forward to more updates

Wow. That sounds like a beast! And a beast of a price as well . Love the fact that it helps get rid of 'the dross' lol :D. Would be good to get to Olympia, so will try it out there :D :D :D

Ta for thinking of me :D. Back was a bit iff after a very busy day, but at least I fell asleep at a reasonable (though early lol) hour and don't feel like the pile of blah I did yesterday (three Red Bulls and a large bag of choccies had their work cut out yesterday!).

I'm now trying to herd three teenage girls out the door - D1 is going cubbing, so it's a three-line whip (her, her sister, and her friend who's up for the weekend). I've retired to the refuge of the sitting room and HHO, with a scream of "Are you ready yet?!" into the ether every few minutes, which is usually met by either silence or "Nearly!".

I could always just go back to bed :D
