First dressage in 16 years... (vids and report)

Brilliant, really well done!!!!
laugh.gif
Sounds like P is going well!
grin.gif
Shame about the weather!

Yay well done you
grin.gif

For horrid weather in wrong saddle and first test in ages I think you did incredibly well, i shall be very please if I can manage something similar in first test with new boy. However that's a while off since he's only been in an arena 3 times so far in his life!

Well done Lou, weather looks atrocious
crazy.gif
Porridge looks very good as usual
grin.gif
that's a good dressage score onwards and upwards now
smile.gif
Hope you've dried out and warmed up now
grin.gif

Thanks guys - I feel chuffed I went out and did it, and am planning on doing more
blush.gif
If my dressage instructor saw me today though I do feel she would have dragged me off P, but never mind
wink.gif

Lou no way would she have dragged you off. How many people do you hear harp on and on about doing stuff butnever actually go out and get on with it. And you've got a familly to care for to.
Take my hat off to you. Have you dried out yet?

Thats dedication for you. I was supposed to be going show jumping this weekend but with the weather, decided not to.
At least you enjoyed it.

Gosh thanks Ali

I am trying, (I think my dressage instructor would say I am very trying
wink.gif
) and I am absolutely determined to improve as once we have cracked the flatwork, our jumping HAS to improve... just a shame P has short front legs LOL!

More dressage? Is this the SJ'ing queen Lou we know and love
wink.gif
only joking
grin.gif
Don't tell me you are actually starting to enjoy the dressage
smirk.gif

haha! Seriously only doing the poncy stuff because I NEED it to enable us to get round anything of a decent height - P DOES have short front legs, so it is up to me now to try and get her to use that back end of hers, round her back and get those hocks underneath her
smirk.gif
As for enjoying it, hmmmmmmm, I think it is a means to an end TBH!

See - short front legs

enjoy dressage - depends on the horse I think, with Higgs it was amazing but then he had been trained to medium level. However with Pidge he much prefers jumping so it is a bit of a battle, but I have to perservere as if I can get him working properly it will help his hock spavin
smile.gif

What does Porridge think of the dressage? Don't know about you but when jumping Pidge I can get a lovely canter, bouncy on the bit and loads of impulsion, but if I take the fences away and try to get the same canter well hmmm no way hosay! Do you think they are trying to tell us something about dressage
tongue.gif

Never noticed before about her front legs, are they really shorter or is it the way she is moving? humour me I am blonde after all
grin.gif

They really ARE shorter, I pointed them out to my McTimoney lady and she agrees. When you see her move in the field she will round over her back beautifully but she is ALWAYS downhill
frown.gif
Therefore I have got to keep at this if I ever want a light and engaged horse to jump round decent tracks - we know she can jump the sky, but it is the inbetween bits that make the round good!

P is the same as Pidge - MUCH more enthusiastic when jumping - but not much, seriously, I am struggling with her because she is so sane
crazy.gif

gonna be hard work but worth it in the end I think as she has a hell of a pop on her
grin.gif

I'll swap you then as would love a sane horse to ride at the moment
crazy.gif
have cut Pidge's food right down and he is still pinging
crazy.gif
Did you get anywhere with her food to pep her up a bit?

Right, lets swop! Everyone wants P as she is just so nice - but they don't see her when I am school
smirk.gif
Anyone could hack her, she really is such a sweetie, but is a little more opinionated when schooling
laugh.gif

Feeding - hhmmmmm not really, just makes her more edgy when she isn't with her men
mad.gif
Going to try straights next!

cool
grin.gif
it's a deal
grin.gif
opinionated and schooling I can sympathise with at the moment
blush.gif

Good luck with the feeding
grin.gif

I've only just seen this !

Well done
smile.gif
That's a decent score ! And proves that SJ'ers can trot after all
grin.gif

Now........what the h3ll do you think you were doing...there were perfectly good BSJA shows on
